Executive Level Leadership Position-Reporting Directly to the JTED Superintendent
Summary:
Building on the recent increase in gifts to Pima JTED and Pima JTED Foundation, the Director of Research and Development will proactively coordinate engagement and stewardship of existing donors as well as research, strategize and launch a sustained public campaign, identifying new potential donors, grants and opportunities for planned giving and sponsorship packages, as well as setting up systems for tracking existing and new donors as well as generating reports.
Conceptualize, implement, and manage engagement initiatives that enhance and support fundraising priorities of JTED. Coordinate the cultivation-solicitation-stewardship cycle of prospects and donors, ensuring all relevant parties understand plans and timetables.
Working closely with the Superintendent, as a member of the JTED leadership team, the Director of Research and Development will ensure that research, cultivation and stewardship plans are well developed, carefully coordinated, and rigorously enacted and manage capacity growth creatively.
Working closely with the JTED Superintendent and other JTED leaders, plan and execute public events including focus groups, student job fairs, hiring fairs, health fairs, alumni engagement, celebrations and recognitions.

Research, Marketing, Development and Fundraising

Resource research, planning and management of giving for JTED programs and initiatives, especially those involving the JTED’s strategic initiatives
- Pursue innovative philanthropic and other resource support including endowed chairs, instructor on loan partnerships, equipment donations and more from individuals, foundations, and corporations.
- Research and secure programmatic partnerships, grants, etc. in unison with other JTED leaders.
- Research, plan and manage JTED alumni engagement.
Administration
- Serve as a strategic partner to JTED Foundation, working closely with JTED Foundation Executive Director.
- Produce strategy and meeting reports to capture a detailed history of donor engagement effectiveness.
- Provide public event, tour and presentation planning and execution
- Demonstrate fiscal responsibility, working under the direction of the JTED Chief Financial Officer.
Communication
- Working closely with the JTED Superintendent, Director of Public Relations, JTED Foundation Executive Director and other JTED leaders, identify opportunities to elevate high-impact stories of successful JTED programs, partnerships and students.
- Manage and develop media relations in support of the Director of Public Relations.
Other
- Other duties as assigned.
This position may require travel to meet donors or working hours occasionally in the evenings or weekends.
Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Minimum Qualifications Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, or related field.
- 5 to 7 years of relevant experience in development activities.
- Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree or PhD in communications, marketing, non-profit management, or related field.
- Experience and a history of success leading a national public campaign.
- National Association of Education Foundations (NAEF)
- Certified Fundraising Executive (CFRE)

Experience in managing relationships with prospects to secure transformational gifts and resources.
- Mastery of the fundamentals of major gifts fundraising and resource development.
- Experience coordinating inter-departmental partnerships.

Additional Requirements:
- Must pass a fingerprint background check
- Valid Arizona Driver License
- Proof of MMR immunization required, unless born prior to January 1, 1957
