Research and Development Manager manages and directs the research and development programs to meet organizational needs and to capitalize on potential new products. Develops and implements research and development procedures and techniques. Being a Research and Development Manager oversees complex research projects, analyzes results and provides recommendations based on findings. Assesses the scope of research projects and ensures they are on time and within budget. Additionally, Research and Development Manager may require an advanced degree. Typically reports to a head of unit/director. The Research and Development Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. Extensive knowledge of department processes.     Role Requirements:
    • BSc Degree in Computer Science or Engineering
    • Experience in Agile/SCRUM enterprise-scale software development
    • Strong knowledge of OOP principles
    • Familiar with HTTP protocol and RESTful APIs
    • Knowledge of responsive web development experience
    • Experience writing and optimizing native JavaScript (ECMAScript6 )
    • Practical experience with TDD, and modern testing methodology
    • At least 7 years of commercial software development experience
    • At least 3 years managing a development team
    • Experience with one or more UI frameworks: React, Angular, Vue
    • Working understanding of relational database and No-SQL database concepts
    • Experience building scalable web applications built around the micro-services architecture
    • Exceptional writing and communication skills
    • Experience leading a team of developers
    • Building effective working relationships with the technical leadership team and organization
    Preferred Skills:
    • Java Servlets, and J2EE frameworks such as Spring MVC, Struts 1.x/2.x.
    • Node.JS / Express.JS middleware and micro-services
    • Docker containerization, Kubernetes
    • Apache, Nginx, Tomcat 8.x
    • 2 years database experience with Oracle 11g and PL/SQL
    • 2 years NoSQL experience with one of Couchbase, Hbase, InfluxDB, Mongo
    • Testing frameworks including Selenium, JUnit, Mocha, Jest, Karma/Protractor
    • Cloud technologies such as AWS, GCP, Azure
    • Eclipse IDE, IntelliJ, WebStorm
    • GIT, or similar distributed source control with Mercurial, Subversion, etc.
    • Familiarity with Linux/Unix and scripting
    • Implementation of a TICK / TIG stack in a production environment
    • JSON, XML/XSD, SOAP

    Work Environment:
    This job is currently offering Remote and Hybrid work settings.

    Physical Demands:
    Requires sitting or standing at a computer desk for extended periods of time.

    Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
    This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 40 hours a week. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
