A level I supervisor is considered a working supervisor with little authority for personnel actions. Additionally, Research and Development Supervisor may require a bachelor's degree in area of specialty. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. Working team member that may validate or coordinate the work of others on a support team. Suggests improvements to process, is a knowledge resource for other team members. SUPERVISOR, Research and Development
Position Description:
This individual will supervise the R&D technicians that build our prototypes, jigs & fixtures, and in-field work. This person will manage, verify, and document prototype builds. Support manufacturing, testing, and purchasing as needed. Review and manage documentation and issues lists before submitting.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Supervise the R&D floor technicians
Supervise the building of prototypes, jigs & fixtures, along with in-field work
Communicate concerns and assist in solutions (area, crane capacity, manpower, etc.)
Manage, verify and document all changes to prototype equipment in the field
Organize and schedule service calls
Supervise, verify, and provide resources for testing as needed
Assist in resolving and documenting production floor issues
Verify R&D credit logs of the technicians and make sure they have been submitted
Assist in Solidworks and AutoCAD prints as needed
Run reports like Where Used, Material Requirements, Cost Projection, and Stock Status
Meet scheduled deadlines
Continuously review ways to make the department more efficient and more accurate
