Aviation Academic Program Director

  • Responsibilities of Aviation Academic Program Director
    Responsible for program initial certification process and continued adherence to the certification standards of CFR Part 147 and acts as liaison to the FAA, state, and local agencies for the program. Serves as the means of community and commercial outreach for the aviation maintenance program to local, state, and regional economic development entities. Works with said agencies to represent the college and identify, cultivate relationships, and encourage greater aerospace development in the region. Cultivates and sustains industry relationships with companies and establish campus recruiting relationships, works with companies to develop and execute recruiting and branding strategies that meet our corporate partners’ talent sourcing goals. Serves as a messaging arm to clearly communicate to the community and education partners the opportunities available for students of all levels.

    • Develops the plans and implementation strategies for student recruitment, public relations, industry outreach, and marketing efforts. Initiates and participates in outreach to local educational institutions to provide knowledge of the career opportunities. Coordinates with local and state officials to create employment and economic opportunities for students and the community for job placement in aviation and/or related fields.
    • Orchestrates and coordinates the development of teaching materials at NETC for aviation related programs. Assists with the hiring of staff and faculty. Oversees the implementation of curriculum, selection, and acquisition of equipment, and serves as the founding director the Aviation Maintenance School.
    • Coordinates with the Dean of Workforce Development and Continuing Education to ensure the program’s adherence to the certification standards of CFR Part 147 and acts as liaison to the FAA, state, and local agencies for the program.
    • Gathers information to remain current on national trends concerning college aviation programs, aviation education centered legislation, potential sources of education funding (including institutional, federal, and private), and of trends within the aviation industry. Oversees, monitors, tracks, and processes budget expenditures for the grant and continuing program. Practices diligence in safeguarding of college assets. Ensures all proper documentation is completed and filed according to oversight regulations at the college, state, and federal level.
    • Coordinates with the Dean of Workforce Development and Continuing Education to meet with incoming students and their families to explain the responsibilities and opportunities for all future aviation maintenance students. Develops onboarding process of students interested in aviation fields and explains to their families the responsibilities and opportunities within the aviation industry. Organizes and provides the civilian and military sectors with relevant information regarding College programs and services. Works with the Registrar's Office and complies with policies and procedures for military personnel to credit and/or aid to complete the training program. Identifies and works with partner colleges for maximum two way transfer of program courses.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.
    A bachelor’s degree in aviation or education from an accredited institution of higher education. 5 year’s practical aviation industry experience and knowledge of CFR Part 147. 5 years’ experience working with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and/or federal regulation compliance and/or experience with educational material approvals and certifications for federal and/or educational compliance in the aviation field. Must have a valid driver's license.

    NETC Preferred Requirements: Prior supervisory experience in aviation business, manufacturing, or aftermarket aircraft maintenance. FAA certification or credential in Maintenance and/or Flight operation, 1-2 years aviation economic development experience.Program Director must have demonstrated skills in these areas of requirements: credentials appropriate for teaching assignments based on FAA requirements, excellent customer service, mature relationships with industry, and interpersonal skills for leading a new division. Must be able to function in an environment characterized by continual changes in education, training, and industry.  Limited supervision provided by the Dean of Workforce Development and Continuing Education.

    This position requires in-state and out-of-state travel. Overnight travel may be required. Ability to lift 50 pounds.

    First Year Salary: $78,000.00
    Second Year Salary: $80,000.00
    Third Year Salary: $82,000.00

    NETC is a qualified employer for Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) program. The PSLF Program forgives the remaining balance on your Direct Loans after you have made 120 qualifying monthly payments under a qualifying repayment plan while working full-time at NETC.     • be employed by a U.S. federal, state, local, or tribal government or not-for-profit organization (federal service includes U.S. military service)
    • work full-time for that agency or organization
