Academic IT Support Specialist

  • Farmingdale State College invites applications for an Academic IT Support Specialist to provide technical assistance to the Office of the Provost and the Division of Academic Affairs. Reporting directly to the Provost, this newly created position will maintain, support, and troubleshoot a portfolio of SaaS products (CRM, EMS, etc.) used by faculty and staff in several academic and administrative departments.

    Job Duties & Responsibilities:

    • Serve as a system administrator and the campus point of contact for Axiom Mentor, the electronic management system for applied learning/internships, course evaluations, faculty reporting, and research compliance.
    • Serve as a technical liaison to the Registrar's Office to configure and implement the new classroom scheduling management system using Accruent EMS.
    • Develop and manage content for the Office of the Provost, Division of Academic Affairs, and Microcredential webpages on the College's website using Omni CMS.
    • Oversee the Microcredential digital badging platform using Credly.
    • Assist the Acting CRM Advise Administrator with system maintenance tasks, integrations and imports, and generating reports using Ellucian CRM Advise.
    • Provide high-quality technical support to end users.
    • Diagnose and troubleshoot unexpected system complications. Escalate issues to the appropriate party or vendor for resolution and document solutions.
    • Offer training to end users and create training materials, resources, and tutorials as needed.
    • Additional duties may be assigned as needed to support the technological needs of the Office of the Provost.

    Job Requirements:


    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Programming/Information Systems, Information Technology, or a closely related field.
    • Minimum one-year system administrator or technical support experience.
    • Ability to oversee multiple systems.
    • Ability to resolve problems and develop relevant alternatives and recommendations.
    • Solid logical thinking and problem-solving skills.
    • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with both technical and non-technical audiences.
    • Excellent analytical, organizational, and time management skills.
    • Ability to prioritize work, manage competing priorities, and meet deadlines.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Experience working in a higher education environment.
    • Experience working with academic IT systems and applications.
    • Graduate of Farmingdale State College.

    Additional Information:


    This is a full-time UUP position.

    • For the first 10 working days, beginning Tuesday, July 18, 2023 and ending Monday, July 31, 2023, applications will be limited to UUP Farmingdale.
    • CLOSING DATE FOR RECEIPT OF APPLICATIONS: Wednesday, August 16, 2023
    • Salary: $55,000 $3,026 in downstate location pay = $58,026 Total Annual Compensation.
