    Position Summary

    ACC/ Design Tools Management:

    Work with Director of Engineering and Management to develop IT software strategy.

    Evaluate the latest software functionalities and determine when upgrades or changes are justified.

    Work with Discipline Managers, to identify processes that are manual or complex and propose ways to reduce costs by integrating or automating processes and maximizing reuse. Benefits can come from either increased competitiveness through reduced engineering costs or better utilization of existing licenses.

    Develop methods, go-by’s and templates to assure project team adherence to corporate ACC and 3D model standards.

    Troubleshoot software issues and engage the software providers as required for resolution.

    Provide support for installation of new design

    Manage software licenses and provide input on license needs for annual budget preparation.

    Manage the library of CATS and Specs to improve design efficiency. Grow the library over time by capturing items from projects.

     

    Project Team Engagement:

    Train team members on new software, software upgrades, and corporate ACC and 3D model standards

    Train new team members to improve on-boarding.

    When working on projects where the technology may be repeated on future projects (such as for ammonia plants) set up the model so pieces of the model can be isolated and used as starting points for future projects. For example, be able to isolate and reuse the reaction area even if the raw material section is different.

    Pull model pieces from other similar projects for the team to use, if beneficial

    Manage project changes and updates to retain design history and evolution.

    Participate in project kick-off meetings with client to assure alignment on engineering deliverable format, including software versions.

    Provide Quality Control oversight on project models to check for incomplete or inaccurate models and assure compliance with best practices and standards.

    Provide support to project team in identifying and clearing clashes.

     

    Third Party Interfaces:

    Assure client required design standards and specs are incorporated into the design and into the formats of the deliverables.

    Work with HVEC to assure models and associated databases are used in a consistent manner to facilitate work share.

    Work with HVEC to standardize deliverable formats and software versions.

    Provide support for plotting and electronic file submissions in coordination with Document Control

    Responsibilities

    Engineering Automation Manager (EAM) is responsible for increasing the competitiveness of CDI by improving the quality of the deliverables, reducing costs by integrating and automating engineering processes, and by improving data sharing with clients and third-party team members, including HVEC.

     

    The EAM needs to understand:

    Overall capital project work process

    Basic understanding of discipline work processes with a focus on discipline interfaces

    Current software trends, especially the capabilities and limitations of current and future releases of CDI’s current software providers The

     

    The EAM needs to have a business mindset with a focus on reducing costs by:

    Improving productivity by integrating tools and automating manual interfaces

    Managing software licenses so they are utilized as fully as reasonable.

    Look for more cost-effective tools or elimination of duplicate tools.

    Drive continuous improvement of the overall design process, especially focusing on discipline interfaces.

    Proactively promoting and enabling design reuse

     

    Qualifications

    Required:

    10 years of experience in CAD related tasks

    Experience as the lead designer on medium and large multi-discipline projects.

    EPCm experience
