  • Actalent Engineering is seeking qualified candidates for a Project Manager opening with a contract machining company that is located in Denver, PA. This person will be responsible for all aspects of preparing an estimate for a customer quotation, including costing, materials, tooling, machine requirements, programming, inspection requirements, packaging, documentation and any other requirements.

    Below is a summary of responsibilities for this position:

    • Responsible for managing and directing the Project Planning Department to transform customer requirements into firm cost estimates.
    • Enable the department personnel to determine and communicate the best method, sequence of operations, machine, material and tooling to produce customer parts.
    • Assist other departments as needed to utilize special tools and skills to achieve company objectives.
    • Responsible for driving efficiencies throughout the shop in all areas, including but not limited to process flow, labor usage and output, machinery usage and capacity, and material consumption.
    • Responsible for creating and maintaining a shop environment that fosters and focuses on safety, efficiency, continual improvement, quality, and meeting or exceeding government and environmental regulations.
    • Directs efforts of drafters, estimating department and customer service department
    • Completes estimating and customer service functions and aids in these departments whenever necessary.
    • Checks estimates and establish selling prices, working with accounting and production.
    • Works directly with customers on special problems.
    • Work orders are checked to see that the proper amount of material and labor have been allowed for and that the selling price is proper; if the bid is not prepared properly, the opportunity for profit will not exist.
    • Creative contributions. For example, setting strategies for bidding and planning a job; important that good judgement is used when writing a bid or estimating a job.
    • Supervision is direct and includes various levels throughout the estimating and customer service departments.
    • The position has many relationships to maintain with customers, manufacturer's reps, and material suppliers -- who are also customers, etc.
    • This job involves planning of the estimating and customer service functions.

    Below is a summary of requirements for qualified candidates:

    • 2 years of experience in a machine shop environment
    • Estimating experience
    • Knowledge and understanding of machine shop practices, equipment, tooling, understanding of calculating speeds and feeds
    • Skill in examining and re-engineering operations and procedures
    • Ability to manage production schedules and manage resources in a manner consistent with continual improvement
    • Working knowledge of ISO quality management systems
    • Working knowledge of computer systems and the company business software
    • Ability to analyze and interpret shop and production data

    Job Type: Full-time

    Pay: $60,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
