Work Hours Monday thru Saturday 8 AM to 5 PM as assigned
Location: Middletown Rancheria Tribal Administration Offices
Position Overview:
The Water Resource Coordinator will lead the Water Resources Program activities and the implementation of current environmental programs as a determined priority by the Environmental Director and Tribal Administrator. This position will assist in the development, implementation, and monitoring required of the US EPA Clean Water Act Program, BIA Water Resources, and BOR Water Program Expansion projects including but not limited to surface water quality monitoring, erosion control Best Management Practices implementation, native plant/invasive weeds surveys, and native plant restoration demonstration projects. This position will develop workshops on topics such as native plant restoration and water quality for community events and staff training.
Position Knowledge, Abilities, and Skill Requirements:
This position requires a BA/BS degree, preferably in a related field, and/or a minimum of 5 years of previous related experience. Applicants should possess complete working knowledge and skills necessary for Federal, State, and Native Lands programs, regulations, codes, and ordinances, including knowledge of NEPA and CEQA. Qualified candidates must have the ability to research and prepare successful grant proposals and communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Suitable applicants must possess working knowledge of Microsoft Office products and the general Windows environment, including utilizing the electronic mail system. Candidate must be able to bend and lift up to 50 pounds, tolerate long periods of working under inclement conditions, possess knowledge of safety, capable of implementing scientific studies in the field, data analysis, and research methods. This person must be able to work prescribed hours and have the ability to fulfill work schedules routinely and punctually. Successful applicants must possess strong time and project management skills, strong organizational and public speaking skills, with basic financial management knowledge. This person must have the ability to work both independently and collaboratively with all supervisors, co-workers, office personnel, and Tribal Members.
Position Duties and Other Work Requirements:
- Assist in planning, implementing, and completing US EPA Clean Water Program, BIA/BOR Water Resources projects as directed by the Environmental Director or designated Project Manager.
- Must be able to read, understand, and follow basic safety procedures and precautions.
- Must have the ability to work with the general public, co-workers, office staff, Tribal Council, and Tribal Members.
- Must be self-motivating, productive, and ensure maximum use of time at work.
- Must be able to work in adverse weather conditions and perform strenuous physical labor.
- Assist in maintaining an inventory of all equipment, supplies, and tools, including keeping all in good working order and repair as needed.
- Preference given to individuals with a valid driver's license and a good driving record.
- Must be sensitive to Tribal Culture and/or Cultural differences.
- Other duties as assigned or directed by the Environmental Director or Tribal Administrator.
Conditions of Employment:
The employee will have a 90-day probationary period and must pass an initial and random drug and alcohol screening to be eligible and maintain employment. All employment at Middletown Rancheria is "at will". This means that the employee or Middletown Rancheria may terminate the employment relationship at any time for any reason.
