Respiratory Care Manager plans and implements the overall respiratory care policies, procedures, and services. Ensures efficient and effective departmental operations. Job Summary: The CST is responsible for tracking, maintaining equipment, and documentation on client facilities. This person will also assist the respiratory department in setting up new and existing patients apnea monitors, CPAPs, BiPAPs, suction machines, and tracheostomy equipment as allowed by state regulations. Services will include setting equipment, education, assessment, monitoring, and cleaning/servicing equipment, as related to the individualized service or care plan.
Major Duties
1. Inspect the equipment during tracking visits to ensure proper operating function of equipment
2. Assess the patients room to ensure an environment of care to the efficacious delivery of required services
3. Educate residents and/or SNF staff in the correct operation, use, and application, safety precautions and maintenance of prescribed devices and supplies
4. Provide routine follow-up and tracking of equipment by facility visits or phone contact, as indicated by company protocols and the individual service plan
5. Evaluate safety in relation to oxygen storage, equipment par levels, recommend changes as appropriate
6. Prepare and maintain the tracking sheets containing all documentation required by policy and procedure
7. Complete all required documentation in a timely manner and accordance with company policy and protocol
8. Maintain appropriate infection control protocol supplies on company vehicle, as appropriate
9. Follow company policies and procedures for handling rental equipment utilized by customers requiring infection control protocol
Minor Duties
1. Must provide courteous customer service
2. Must maintain professional, clean, and neat physical appearance
3. Communicate and interact with all operating departments
4. All other duties as assigned
Requirements
1. High school diploma or equivalent required
2. Healthcare experience preferred
3. One year experience working for an oxygen equipment company preferred
4. Familiar with OSHA, FDA, and JCAHO requirements as pertains to respiratory
5. Familiar with the set-up, operation, and troubleshooting of various respiratory equipment
6. Current valid driver’s license with excellent driving record, no points preferred
7. Must be able to read, write, understand, and speak the English language
8. Familiar with performance standard of simple mechanical equipment and ability to recognize defects in simple medical equipment
9. Ability to prioritize tasks and perform under pressure
10. Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills, self motivated
11. Possess geographic knowledge of service area, and ability to read map
12. Basic analytic and problem solving skills and ability to follow directions
