Respiratory Care Manager plans and implements the overall respiratory care policies, procedures, and services. Ensures efficient and effective departmental operations. Being a Respiratory Care Manager directs the activities of the respiratory therapy section. Supervises technical staff and students. Additionally, Respiratory Care Manager prepares departmental budgets and reports. Evaluates new equipment and procedures. Typically requires RRT registration. May require a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a head of a unit/department. The Respiratory Care Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. Extensive knowledge of department processes. Kids Care, our region's pediatric and neonatal transport team, consists of highly trained RN's and RT's that specialize in transporting critical neonatal and pediatric patients. This position represents patient care directed towardthe stabilization and safe transport of critical pediatric/neonatal patients to Huntsville Hospital Women and Children’s. Patient care is also given in clinical areas throughout the hospital such as the Pediatric ICU or Neonatal ICU.
Minimum Knowledge, Skills, Experience Required:
Experience:Minimum 1 year critical care experience required, preferred in Pediatric ICU or Neonatal ICU. Additional experience relating to intubation is preferred.
License, Certification and/or Registration:
Must be licensed by the ASBRT and registered by the NBRC.
Certification of BLS required at time of hire.
PALS, ACLS, and NRP required within six months of hire.
Additional Skills/ Abilities:Must be able to work with a high level of autonomy and have excellent communication skills. Must be able to work in a fast paced environment and perform well in stressful situations. Must have excellent assessment skills and effectively troubleshoot any problems that arise. Must have the ability to perform and recommend procedures in all areas of EKG, Bronchial Hygiene, Oxygen Therapy, Respiratory Diagnostic Procedures, and all levels of Mechanical Ventilation.
