Respiratory Care Manager plans and implements the overall respiratory care policies, procedures, and services. Ensures efficient and effective departmental operations. Being a Respiratory Care Manager directs the activities of the respiratory therapy section. Supervises technical staff and students. Additionally, Respiratory Care Manager prepares departmental budgets and reports. Evaluates new equipment and procedures. Typically requires RRT registration. May require a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a head of a unit/department. The Respiratory Care Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. Extensive knowledge of department processes. To be a Respiratory Care Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 to 3 years supervisory experience may be required. ResponsibilitiesPosition Summary:The position requires independent critical thinking. The ability to communicate a respiratory assessment to Physicians and other Allied Health Professionals is critical in performing the duties as a Respiratory Care Practitioner. The RCP may be required to work independently and will be required to triage patient care. QualificationsMinimum Qualifications:- Current California Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license required
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certifications through the American Heart Association (AHA) required
Preferred Qualifications:
- Two-year degree
- Registration by the National Board of Respiratory Care as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) preferred
- Five years of experience in direct and indirect respiratory care services including (but not limited to) the administration of pharmacological diagnostic and therapeutic agents related to respiratory care procedures necessary to implement a treatment disease prevention pulmonary rehabilitative or diagnostic regimen prescribed by a physician and surgeon
- Registered by the National Board of Respiratory Care as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) preferred.
