Respiratory Therapist - Home Care works in a home care environment and assists in the diagnosis, treatment, and management of patients with pulmonary disorders. Collects and analyzes sputum, blood, and breath specimens to determine levels of oxygen, carbon dioxide, and other gases. Being a Respiratory Therapist - Home Care treats patients with pressure breathing, mechanical ventilation, positive pressure breathing, humidity/medicated aerosol therapy, medical gas administration, pulmonary drainage procedures, and cardiopulmonary resuscitation. Also measures the lung capacity of a patient to determine if there is an impairment. Additionally, Respiratory Therapist - Home Care operates oxygen and other therapeutic gas and mist equipment. Requires a credential of Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT). Requires an associate's degree. Typically reports to a manager. We are currently looking for a dedicated and skilled RT to fill our evening and weekend shift role. The primary duties of this RT is to complete daily respiratory therapies for our complex population of clients. This role also includes coordinator duties such as: maintaining infection control scheduled cleaning, upkeep of therapy equipment, and consulting for pulmonary residents.
Education Level: Must meet education requirement(s) for state licensure and maintain a valid state Respiratory Therapist license. Must hold RRT or CRT certification with the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC). Must hold current BLS for Healthcare Provider CPR or CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer certification. Pediatric experience preferred but not required.
General Description: Under the direct supervision of the Team Leader and Director of Nursing, provides respiratory care to the children within an assigned unit.
