Collects and analyzes sputum, blood, and breath specimens to determine levels of oxygen, carbon dioxide, and other gases. Being a Respiratory Therapist - Home Care treats patients with pressure breathing, mechanical ventilation, positive pressure breathing, humidity/medicated aerosol therapy, medical gas administration, pulmonary drainage procedures, and cardiopulmonary resuscitation. Also measures the lung capacity of a patient to determine if there is an impairment. Additionally, Respiratory Therapist - Home Care operates oxygen and other therapeutic gas and mist equipment. Requires a credential of Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT). Requires an associate's degree. Typically reports to a manager. The Long Term Acute Care Respiratory Therapist will work with a team of experienced Registered Respiratory Therapists and will report to the Respiratory Therapy Services Manager. The Respiratory Therapist will be responsible for providing high quality, efficient care to patients with acute and chronic cardiopulmonary disease. They will provide services such as providing breathing treatments and monitoring ventilated patients. The Respiratory Care Practitioner will consistently assess and document their patient's ongoing symptoms and progress.
