Being a Respiratory Therapist - Home Care treats patients with pressure breathing, mechanical ventilation, positive pressure breathing, humidity/medicated aerosol therapy, medical gas administration, pulmonary drainage procedures, and cardiopulmonary resuscitation. A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A PHYSICAL THERAPIST ASSISTANT
As a physical therapy assistant professional in home health care, you play an essential role in providing our patients with high-quality services that are in accordance with their plan of care. You assist the Physical Therapist performing services planned, delegated and supervised by the evaluating therapist.
In addition to assisting the physical therapist you need to teach the patient and family/ caregiver. Using your exceptional communication skills, you coordinate services with other home health care staff members to ensure that patients are receiving well-rounded treatment.
You provide all services in accordance with CMS documentation and billing requirements, including functional reassessment requirements. The safety of your patients is of the utmost importance to you, and you take great care to practice infection control by following universal precautions. You also actively recognize and report any forms of abuse according to policy as well as federal and state laws. When needed, you assist with orientation for new hires and participate in any training activities.
