Respiratory Therapy Supervisor supervises, organizes, and coordinates the clinical and technical aspects of services rendered to ensure the delivery of quality respiratory therapy treatment. Specific duties may include: counseling staff members about appropriate procedures and policies, performing therapeutic procedures, running quality control tests on all blood gas analyzers, and maintaining equipment. Being a Respiratory Therapy Supervisor is responsible for the administration of oxygen, therapeutic gas, and respiratory medications to patients in accordance with physician orders. Develops, implements, and controls the provision of therapeutic patient care services. Additionally, Respiratory Therapy Supervisor plans and coordinates the daily work activities of respiratory therapists in accordance with hospital policies and the directives of medical staff. Ensures that all policies and procedures are followed according to the facility and department. Requires an associate degree. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. Requires Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT). The Respiratory Therapist Lead shall be responsible for the supervision and coordination of the work activities of department personnel on their respective shift. The RT Lead performs a variety of clinical activities in the assessment, treatment, and education of the patient with respiratory problems. The Respiratory Therapist Lead has demonstrated expertise in all therapies and services offered by the department. The Respiratory Therapist Lead is a role model mentor and expert resource to Level I, II and III therapists, and also actively supports and serves as a resource to other members of the patient care team. The Respiratory Therapist Lead assists department managers with scheduling, coordination of daily operational activities, staff competence assessment and other projects and duties as assigned.

EDUCATION:
Completion of Respiratory Care Program approved by Committee on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC) and current license by the State of Connecticut as a Respiratory Care Practitioner. Registration by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC). Bachelor of Science Degree required.
EXPERIENCE:
Minimum of 5 years as an RRT in Critical Care, Pediatric or Neonatal settings with at least 2 years at YNHHS as an RT III. RTs with pervious leadership experience but less than 2 years' experience as an RT III at YNHHS may be considered as determined by the respiratory therapy leadership team.

Advanced LS ' related to patient population as assigned
SPECIAL SKILLS:
Expert knowledge of respiratory care assessments, procedures, equipment application and appropriate
documentation. Excellent oral and written communication. Excellent organizational, leadership, supervisory and
interpersonal skills. Ability to work under stressful conditions. Computer literacy.
HOURS: Full-time, Evenings 4- 10 hr shifts.
