Respiratory Therapy Supervisor supervises, organizes, and coordinates the clinical and technical aspects of services rendered to ensure the delivery of quality respiratory therapy treatment. Specific duties may include: counseling staff members about appropriate procedures and policies, performing therapeutic procedures, running quality control tests on all blood gas analyzers, and maintaining equipment. Being a Respiratory Therapy Supervisor is responsible for the administration of oxygen, therapeutic gas, and respiratory medications to patients in accordance with physician orders. Develops, implements, and controls the provision of therapeutic patient care services. Additionally, Respiratory Therapy Supervisor plans and coordinates the daily work activities of respiratory therapists in accordance with hospital policies and the directives of medical staff. Ensures that all policies and procedures are followed according to the facility and department. Requires an associate degree. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. Requires Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT). The Respiratory Therapy Supervisor supervises a small group of para-professional staff in an organization characterized by highly transactional or repetitive processes. Contributes to the development of processes and procedures. Thorough knowledge of functional area under supervision.     Requirements:

    • Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant License (Required)
    • Previous experience with the pediatric population
    • Ability to communicate clearly, professionally, and courteously. Ability to read, understand, and follow oral and written instruction.
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
    • Ability to work in a positive manner with children of all ages.
    • Knowledge of grammar, spelling, and punctuation to document in patient files and forward accurate information to clinical staff.

    Responsibilities:

    • Verifies patient information for medical history, test results, and other pertinent information prior to each patient visit.
    • Helps pediatric patients improve their quality of life by helping them according to the treatment plan developed by the Occupational Therapist.
    • Provides timely written documentation per facility and department requirements.
    • Prepares and submits patient charts accurately to provide appropriate billing information.
    • Maintain a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by establishing, following, and enforcing standards and procedures, complying with legal regulations.
    • Keeps supplies ready for use by inventorying and maintaining stock, troubleshoot equipment breakdowns, perform preventative maintenance, and ask for assistance when needed.
    • Updates job knowledge by participating in continuing education, reading professional publications, and participation in professional organizations.
    • Reports any changes in patient status or needs to supervising therapist on a timely basis.
    • Other duties as assigned.
