    BASIC FUNCTION

    The Director of Field Sales, Retail, will serve as the chief architect of the new Retail Field Sales Team and entrepreneurial venture with our key retail customer. You will define the optimal team structure, objectives/KPIs, training curriculum, Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), and budget. You will be responsible for achieving sales and profitability targets for the national Field Sales Team through direct supervision of the Managers of Field Sales Executives across the nation.  Additionally, this individual will be a critical contributor to the strategic plan for the Retail Channel, requiring strong relationships with internal and external partners.  The ideal candidate will be a world class talent champion with demonstrated track record of building successful field sales teams.

    SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES 

    1.     Meet or exceed objectives on key performance indicators related to financial performance, customer delight, operational excellence, and the engagement & development of talent. 

     

    2.     Serve as the chief architect of the new Retail Field Sales Team.  Define the optimal team structure, objectives/KPIs, training curriculum, Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), and budget.   

     

    3.     Hire, develop & train a strong sales team.  Training curriculum should include product and industry knowledge as well as functional skills such as selling, merchandising, and analytics.  Additionally, curriculum must empower team members to demonstrate Kohler’s cultural beliefs as a Bold Associate

     

    4.     Collaborate with Retail and Professional Channel leaders to develop the strategic plan for the Retail Field Sales Organization. Build and execute the supporting tactical plan that enables Kohler to achieve strategic objectives. 

     

    5.     Identify and build the business case for all necessary selling tools required by the Field Sales Team to deliver on objectives. 

     

    6.     Develop and execute the expansion plan, with measurable KPIs for the organization as well as the individual team members, that achieves strategic and financial objectives.  

     

    7.     Participate in the creation of a store-direct fulfillment model to support sales of (a) products not stocked in stores or distribution centers and (b) quantities above and beyond what is stocked in the distribution network. 

     

    8.     Directly lead the team of managers supervising Field Sales Executives.  Ensure the team is executing on plans, uncovering new growth opportunities and developing in their careers.  Provide regular feedback, guidance and OKRs. 

     

    9.     Collaborate with the cross functional partners in Sales, Marketing, Supply Chain, and Finance to create the strategic plan for the retail accounts.   

     

    10.  Monitor and analyze Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). Leverage insights to make better informed proposals and increase sales.  Clearly and concisely communicate results to leadership. 

     

    11.  Partner with Sales Enablement Team to integrate Salesforce into the daily operations of the Retail Field Sales Team to deliver results. 

     

    12.  Create a mechanism through which insights from the front line can be shared with internal stakeholders to illuminate opportunities or challenges that should be addressed. 

     

    13.  Effectively manage the budget for the Retail Field Sales Org to deliver financial targets. 

    REQUIREMENTS:

    Basic Requirements:  

    ·     Bachelor’s degree required. 

    ·     Ten (10) years of experience in Retail Home Center Sales and Field Sales Management with a well-established company, including five (5) years of team leadership.  

    ·    Business travel on a regular basis (50% ). 

    Preferred Requirements:  

    ·       Prior experience launching a new venture with large Retail Home Center customers.

    ·       Salesforce experience preferred. 

    ·       Strong communication skills. 

     

    RELATIONSHIPS AND CONTACTS

    Supervisory Relationships:

    ·       Reports to the Senior Director, Home Depot. 

    ·       Accountable for leadership of the broad Retail Field Sales Organization. 

    ·       Directly supervises Divisional Sales Managers. 

    Organization Relationships:

    ·       Frequent contact with KBNA HR & enterprise Early Talent leadership & team members. 

    ·       Cross functional partners in Sales, Marketing, Supply Chain, and Finance. 

    External Business Relationships:

    ·       Home Depot Field Leadership and Merchandising Team Members. 

     

    Skills/Requirements

    The salary range for this position is $162,000 - $211,100. The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate’s experience, their education, and the work location. In addition, this position is eligible for a performance bonus/variable incentive compensation. Available benefits include medical, dental, vision & 401k.
