Project Manager
The Project Manager is focused on managing different aspects of the Growth segment, which includes Technology, Business Development, and Marketing & Communications. This position reports directly to the Chief of Staff for the Growth Team with a dotted line to the Chief Technology Officer. The position’s primary focus is to define IRAD (Internal Research & Development) project review plans, to provide key metrics and pipeline relationships, to drive execution of the review schedule, to track costs, to identify and resolve issues, and to increase the skills and knowledge of the Engineering organization in IRAD execution and project management. This individual will also lead the IRAD approval and close-out processes across Redwire, ensuring compliant activities across all projects. The position will be responsible for ensuring structured project management for all IRAD projects within the Segment, to include active risk management and intellectual property identification. In addition, the position will manage the Bid & Proposal (B&P) budget approval process and monitor the spend to ensure adherence to policy. The position will be responsible for the accurate reporting of B&P spend, the timely opening and closing of charge codes, and the documentation of approvals.
This role includes assessment of tools to gauge deployment and to implement key actions to deliver business goals. To be successful in this role, an individual must overcome the obstacles of change and have a strong ability to efficiently maintain centralized status and process, while articulating the future state and benefits of tools. This person must have a detailed focus for accurate reporting to enable successful implementation.
Responsibilities
- Oversee overall execution of the IR&D portfolio of about ~20 projects
- Guide teams to execution within FAR criteria for IR&D expense
- Employ Corporate IRAD Policy and provide process execution guidance, training, and templates
- Communicate IR&D review plans, projects, status, costs, schedules, issues, and actions to the leadership team
- Work with executive team and government auditors to support any reporting or other information needed
- Support communication and coordination with government agencies (e.g. DCMA and DTIC)
- Monitor projects for Out of Bounds status per their Project Authorization Agreement
- Manage monthly and quarterly reviews and capture summary and actions
- Project financial tracking at weekly, monthly, and annual levels
- Risk Management – prioritizing execution to support company growth
- Intellectual Property portfolio management
- Manage to the established IR&D budget and Policy
- Challenge teams to ensure we have the optimum IR&D plans
- Support communicating IRAD projects to benefit new bids and programs
- Coach and lead practical problem-solving activities including the collation and analysis of data, product roadmaps, Go To Market, and lead tasks and projects with limited supervision
- Monitor execution progress using assessment tools and help define the strategic goals to continue to drive growth and move the organization forward
- Oversee overall execution of the B&P budget
- Monitor and report weekly on B&P spend
- Document B&P policy and procedures and provide team with templates and training
- Ensure documentation of B&P budget approvals
Ideal Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering preferred
- 3 years' experience in a project management role working with large functional teams to manage project status
- Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously with firm deadlines
- Possesses strong organization and prioritization skills, with strong communication skills for all levels of the company
- Ability to teach, mentor and coach people on project management approaches
- Experience facilitating projects reviews
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy
- Experience producing executive summaries and metrics for progress reporting and to communicate opportunities/focus areas
- Experience working with and coordinating with multiple teams and leading a common process
