    Salt Life is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to join the team in our Orlando, FL location. The Assistant Store Manager is a creative, energetic and confident Salt Life brand ambassador. The ASM works directly under the Store Manager and assumes full management responsibility in the absence of the Store Manager. The Assistant Store Manager supports the Store Manager in hiring, training, and managing a team to ensure smooth execution of store operations.

    Responsibilities and Expectations

    Sales and Customer Service

    • Constantly strive to achieve and exceed store and personal sale goals.
    • Demonstrates high degree of professionalism in communication, attitude and teamwork with customers, peers and management team.
    • Deliver exceptional customer service through taking ownership of the sales floor and handling customers with issues and complaints
    • Empower the team to make decisions in the customer’s best interest that also supports Salt Life philosophy.
    • Continuously motivates team to meet and exceed sales and productivity goals.
    • Have strong product knowledge and communicate this information to customers in a clear and concise way.
    • Adaptable to store environment change:
    • New product and technology
    • Customer emergencies
    • Ensure the team is providing guests Salt Life customer service:
    • Say a friendly greeting within 30 seconds upon customer entering the store
    • Ask open ended questions to understand the situation or request
    • Listen to customer needs without interrupting
    • Tell customer about promotions
    • Let me show you and escort customer to department or product
    • Invite customer to try on product in the dressing room and be attentive
    • Finalize sale by walking customer to the cash wrap
    • End with a smile, thank you and invitation to return

    Operations

    • Maintain regular and timely communication with the Store Manager
    • Ensure cash control procedures are properly followed including; all transactions, bank deposits, till funds and petty cash.
    • Ensure the store is completing all daily tasks and checklists.
    • Maintain an organized stockroom/break room/office area.
    • Report maintenance issues to the Store Manager.
    • Flexible in the event of scheduling, including, nights, weekends, employee and customer emergencies.

    Inventory Management and Merchandising

    • Ensure all incoming and outgoing shipments are processed and followed per policy
    • Ensure all new merchandise is properly placed
    • Send replenishment requests to Store Manager.
    • Demonstrate in depth product knowledge.
    • Assist the Store Manager in the preparation and execution of physical inventories
    • Maintain the visual impact for the store:
    • Mannequins are fully dressed and styled.
    • Displays are in exceptional condition.
    • Merchandise sized and organized according to company
    • Identify and communicate product/fixture concerns to the Store Manager.
    • Maintain folding and hanging guidelines.

    Human Resources

    • Support the Store Manager in recruiting, training and developing associates.
    • Communicate employee concerns and issues to the Store Manager as needed.
    • Ensure employee image standards are reflective of the Salt Life dress code and adhered to at all time.
    • Promote a positive work environment where all employees are treated fairly, respectfully and equally.

    Loss Prevention and Safety

    • Protect the store funds, property, employees and customers by complying to and enforcing all loss prevention and safety principles, policies and procedures.
    • Perform all financial activities efficiently and in accordance with company standards, including cash handling and reporting, price changes, and merchandise handling.
    • Maintain safety requirements to ensure safe working and shopping environment.
    • Communicate all loss prevention and safety related concerns or incidents to the Store Manager.
    • Ensure employees are not abusing Employee Discount
    • Log missing merchandise and found tags per policy.

    Qualifications

    • Minimum high school diploma, GED, or equivalent education preferred.
    • Minimum 3 years’ experience working in a retail environment with minimum 2 years in a management role (retail preferred).
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively lead staff, help customers and work with upper management
    • Ability to work store sales floor for extended periods.
    • Able to work flexible schedule including weekends, evenings and holidays.
    • Ability to lift at least 30 lbs., carry, push, squat, kneel, twist, turn, reach and bend.
    • Must have a positive and outgoing personality.
    • Computer skills to include Microsoft Office.
    • Ability to quickly learn operation of retail point of sale system.

    Job Type: Full-time

    Pay: $15.00 - $16.00 per hour
