Retail Store Detective is responsible for apprehension and prosecution of shoplifters and the prevention of theft. Not a uniformed security guard or watchman.   • Duties

    • You will respond to incident scenes, on and off station, as directed.
    • You will charge or convict a person of a violation in compliance with criminal law.
    • You will understand law enforcement instructions to protect the constitutional rights of suspects, witnesses, and victims.
    • You will write reports relating to criminal and civil security hazards, complaints, and witness statements for use in future legal proceedings and investigations.
    • You will conduct interviews and interrogation of witnesses and/or suspects.

    • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
    • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
    • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
    • This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.
    • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current expandable baton and OC Spray certification.

    Qualifications

    1) Conducting investigations into alleged or suspected violations of criminal laws and military regulations in accordance with laws, ordinances, regulations, and policies.
    2) Responding to crime scenes to collect and preserve evidence.
    3) Preparing case records to include investigation findings and recommendations; and 4) Presenting evidence and/or testimony during legal proceedings.

    WORK ENVIRONMENT: Work performed in various environments to include office spaces, outside, cramped spaces, automobiles, etc. Work performed in various types of weather and exposure to the elements is common. Investigations often cannot be delayed pending improvement of weather conditions and investigations may be conducted even during inclement weather.
