Manages the complete day-to-day operation of the Annville location by performing the following duties:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned:
Provides service to customers in the store. Actively listens and asks questions to evaluate customer’s needs and find the product or solution to meet those needs. Ensures that store associates are trained to do the same.
Provides guidance and direction to the store with assistance from the Hardware Division Manager. Determines goals and priorities; develops and implements plans to ensure that store objectives are met.
Listens to customer complaints and resolves problems to restore and promote good public relations.
Determines staffing needs for the store; reviews applications, interviews and selects personnel for open positions.
Develops a work schedule to ensure adequate coverage; schedules work hours and breaks; reviews and approves requests for time off.
Establishes performance standard and objectives. Establishes and communicates job expectations, ensures the availability and completion of training, and evaluates individual performance.
Trains and enforces store policies, procedures, and job duties; ensures written and verbal instruction.
Coaches and counsels employees; issues warnings and discipline. Makes recommendations for terminations and participates in termination meetings.
Maintains harmony among workers and resolves grievances.
Studies and standardizes procedures to improve efficiency. Continuously seeks opportunities for improvement; uses creativity and innovation to solve problems.
Runs and reviews a daily report to track sales and trends.
Ensures that sales floor plan and products are up to date.
Reviews requests from salespeople for the addition of new merchandise.
Evaluates and implements new programs.
Prepares for and determines attendance at trade shows; evaluates new products and approves purchases.
Supervises staff in maintaining a clean and organized warehouse.
Ensures the store is merchandised in an attractive and inviting way (ex. is clear and well stocked)
Attends meetings with other Ace Hardware retailers as required.
Functions as a member of the management team; attends and participates in company meetings as needed, such as the sales committee.
Acts as a safety advocate for the store. Enforces the company's safety policies; monitors processes and procedures for potential hazards; ensures proper store personnel training and supports the safety committee's activities.
Maintains full knowledge of the layout of the division and can easily locate product.
Performs sales duties to relieve employees during peak work periods or staff shortages.
Responsible for monitoring theft and the legal pursuit of shoplifters and loss prevention.
File claims for defective merchandise, shortages and returns to vendor and ensure that credit is received.
In charge of paint and cleaning department (area of responsibility), including mixing paint
Directly supervises 7-10 employees. Is responsible for the overall direction of the store. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and reclosing problems.

Associate degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or minimum 2 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Other Skills and Abilities
Computer proficiency, including Internet software; inventory software; order processing systems; spreadsheet and word processing programs.
Understanding of basic business concepts and the ability to read and understand financial information.
Must have a valid Pennsylvania driver’s license
Must be able to travel overnight several times each year to attend trade shows
