      PLANNING AND CONSTRUCTION ASSISTANT
      QUALIFICATIONS:

      1. Training and experience in computer-aided drafting and design (CAD)
      2. Knowledge of computer hardware and software commonly used in facilities planning and construction; proficiency in use of
      AutoCAD, Excel and Word; ability to learn and operate other software applications as needed
      3. Knowledge of modern office practices and procedures and operation of common office equipment
      4. Ability to follow oral and written directions; ability to use independent judgment
      5. Understanding of concepts of drafting and design; ability to make accurate mathematical computations
      6. Experience in organization and management of office
      7. Ability to communicate and work effectively with staff and public
      8. Knowledge of performing site verifications and obtaining field measurements of exteriors and interiors of existing buildings
      9. Possession of a valid driver’s license and personal car in good repair for use on District-related business

      REPORTS TO: Administrator as assigned

      JOB GOAL: Under general direction of Director of Maintenance,Operations, and Facilities, assists in coordination and implementation of facilities planning program, and provides field and administrative support services for Maintenance, Operations, and Facilities Department

      PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
      • Performs variety of duties related to facilities planning and maintenance including but not limited to assisting in developing and drafting plans, drawings, contracts, correspondence and related documents
      • Operates CAD software and hardware to produce drawings, designs, charts and other documents; maintains current knowledge of related technology
      • Assists in preparation plans and drafts for maintenance and construction projects; performs assigned duties related to preparations for bidding process
      • Assists staff with maintaining current building statistics and site maps, monitors additions, deletions and relocation of buildings
      • Assist various departments with space planning as directed
      • Monitors and maintains electronic and paper construction plans inventory
      • Maintains records and files; prepares related reports and documentation as required
      • Models personal and professional values of equity, integrity, caring, collaboration, personal and collective responsibility
      • Performs other related duties as assigned



      SALARY: $19.59 - $23.90 per hour

      EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with the District’s “improvement of Professional Services” handbook, Board Policies and Procedures and consistent with collective bargaining agreements when applicable

      Some positions may require proof of privately owned automobile insurance and the possession of a valid California Motor Vehicle operator's license. Fingerprint clearance by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the California Department of Justice is a condition of appointment after all other required job conditions have been met. Must present verification of completion of Child Abuse Mandated Reporter training or obtain verification within six (6) weeks of hire and annually thereafter, as required by the California Child Abuse Neglect Reporting Act.
