    The Corporate Revenue Cycle Department is seeking a dynamic and talented Director – Revenue Cycle.

     

    The Director of Revenue Cycle is responsible for all the foundation applications utilized within the revenue cycle operations; manages the staff of the Revenue Cycle department; assists with providing focus and direction to the activities of all Revenue Cycle staff in providing analysis, monitoring operations and/or developing and maintaining the systems utilized in patient accounting operations. Acts as the liaison between internal and external customers involved with revenue cycle management at UHS and facilitates open communication between the facilities, UHS Corporate and vendors. Assesses revenue cycle performance in accordance with set goals and objectives and provides leadership to attain them. Interacts with the various departments that are impacted by the operations of Revenue Cycle Management.

     

    Oversees the training and education required on the computer systems, policies and procedures. Ensures compliant revenue cycle operations. Manages, coordinates and champions multiple revenue cycle initiatives across the organization to improve processes. Collaborates with revenue cycle associates and vendors to prepare performance metrics and analysis. Discovers opportunities for process improvement through reviewing performance metric reports and collaborating with other departmental leaders; articulates the business case for such changes. Designs, implements and evaluates improvements aimed at increased efficiency; supports the assessment of current revenue cycle functions. Works with internal and external resources and supports the ongoing operations of internal and vendor applications and tools. Recommends organizational standardized policies and procedures based on industry best practices incorporating change management principles and delivering high quality results. Supports the annual planning process to establish objectives and performance measures that gauge the effectiveness and efficiency of organizational strategies. Works with other revenue cycle leadership to develop performance measures for staff in various areas and institutes ongoing professional development opportunities such as internal certificate programs, career ladders, cross-training opportunities, etc.

     

    Key Responsibilities include:

    • Responsible for corporate revenue cycle initiatives and standardization of new technology and operational functions.
    • Responsible for the corporate level accounts receivable monthly review and analysis.
    • Establishes standards and processes to ensure continuous improvement in the revenue cycle – Develops and implements changes and enhancements.
    • Provides revenue cycle expertise to Patient Access and Health Information Management while working collaboratively with facilities and corporate office.
    • Oversees enterprise-wide CDM, contract management, claims processing, system master files and vendor relations and performance.
    • Responsible for the development, implementation and quality assurance of all revenue cycle corporate policies and procedures.
    • Acts as Revenue Cycle Leader for system conversions, purchases and divestitures.
    • Works collaboratively with all corporate departments to ensure operational functions are aligned with the strategic goals of the organization.

    Qualifications

    Position Requirements:

    • Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred.
    • 8-10 years of experience in both Healthcare revenue systems and operations.
    • This includes extensive experience with revenue cycle operations.
    • Must have progressive supervisory /management experience with extensive knowledge of revenue cycle systems and processes including scheduling, registration, charging, billing and collections.
    • Knowledge of major healthcare technology systems, such as Siemens, Cerner, etc. is preferable.
    • Knowledge of significant industry initiatives influencing revenue cycle operations such as Affordable Care Act, High Deductible Plans, Patient Friendly Billing, Price Transparency, etc.
    • Proven record of identifying process improvement opportunities and the ability to think critically about workflows.
    • Ability to influence key stakeholders at various organizational levels.
    • Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills and ability to lead are required.
    • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft products, spreadsheets, databases, project management is required.
    • A good working knowledge of Patient Accounting and Revenue Cycle experience with CMS billing and reimbursement guidelines, CPT codes, qualifiers and venue-specific code appropriateness.
    • Understands reimbursement methodologies for acute care facilities and physician offices.
    • Preferred experience with Cerner Patient Accounting, Soarian Financial systems or other Revenue Cycle applications.
    • General familiarity of user business practices, concepts and terminology sufficient to support the applications. 
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

     

    Travel Requirements: Up to 25%.
