Revenue Cycle Director directs and oversees the overall policies, objectives, and initiatives of an organization's revenue cycle activities to optimize the patient financial interaction along the care continuum. Reviews, designs, and implements processes surrounding admissions, pricing, billing, third party payer relationships, compliance, collections, and other financial analyses to ensure that clinical revenue cycle is effective and properly utilized. Being a Revenue Cycle Director tracks numerous metrics related to the patient engagement cycle including record coding error rates and billing turnaround times to develop sound revenue cycle analysis and reporting. Manages relations with payers and providers to generate high reimbursement rates and a low level of denials. Additionally, Revenue Cycle Director requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to top management. The Revenue Cycle Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. To be a Revenue Cycle Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function.     Position Overview: Oversees MRWH revenue cycle. Plans, organizes and implements activities and procedures to effectively administer revenue cycle best practices. Maintains key performance indicators, quality controls, compliance measures and performance standards to meet SMT strategic planning objectives.


    Job Duties:

    1. Liaise with 3rd party billing vendor. Oversee performance expectations and successful process improvements while facilitating/collaborating with 3rd party vendor for CPH billing, coding, A/R, collections, and any other contractual expectations.
    2. Train, develop, support and manage staff while supporting a team environment.
    3. Maintain/manage bonus program, adhere to HR/Company policies and procedures, evaluate and approve timecards and time off requests.
    4. Work in collaboration with department supervisors for oversight with check in and out process: education, training, dashboards, scripting, CPH software, mapping, etc.
    5. Working in collaboration with CFO and bookkeepers as it relates to revenue cycle management.
    6. Maintain monthly dashboard including KPIs, production numbers, etc., on a monthly basis.
    7. Comply with all CMS, Federal and State regulations, payor guidelines and ensure consistent and complaint coding application.
    8. Research and collaborate on regulation updates to ensure all necessary changes are incorporated into daily workflows.
    9. Develop double check process for EMR postings to bookkeeping software on a quarterly/monthly basis.
    10. Collaborate with EMR vendor for improved data mining and financial reporting tools as it relates to revenue cycle.
    11. Assist CFO on payment analysis for the various commercial payers as it relates to fee schedules, contracts, and the various plan offerings under each insurance plan.
    12. Collaborate with CFO and DO as it relates to key insurers on value-based revenue achievements as it relates to performance outcomes.
    13. Assist CFO in preparing and developing operational strategies to increase cash, reduce bad debt, and decrease patient refunds.
    14. Collaborate with credentialing department to ensure clear integration and alignment for incoming and outgoing providers occurs.
    15. Regularly provide leadership with revenue/payment data, reports, metrics, and presentations.
    16. Oversees maintenance, updates of the relevant modules, set-up, and data tables in the electronic health record systems and related billing engines.
    17. Collaborates with the scrum team to ensure billing functions are being maintained or added as necessary in the electronic health record systems.
    18. Directs resolution of billing and payment issues and ensures proper communication to executive and program leadership in accordance with established parameters.
    19. Ensures analysis and correction of root causes of denials, billing errors, database errors, etc. that result in non-payment or denied claims.
    20. Collaborates with other departments/programs to design systems, train staff, monitor and implement changes needed to ensure effective and timely revenue workflow.
    21. Resolves escalated reimbursement issues with payers.
    22. Performs other duties as assigned.
    23. Audit, compliance, A/R Management, billing, insurance follow-up, and coding experience is mandatory.
    24. Understanding of healthcare reimbursement environment including coverage, and payment necessary.
    25. Ability to interact with others effectively, both verbal and written.
    26. Strong influencing and leadership skills and the ability to collaborate in a team environment.
    27. Ability to set and meet deadlines.
    28. Proven understanding of the commercial and government payer landscape
    29. Must be proficient in the use of technology and adaptable to proprietary systems and methods.
    30. Strong organizational skillset with strong cycle time management capabilities
    31. Proficient skills in all office programs
    32. Exceptional problem solving and research capabilities with a strong analytic mindset.
    33. Forward-thinking and self-directed

    Minimum Qualifications: 

    • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or business related field required. 
    • Eligibility may be established on the basis of six (6) years experience in lieu of a degree. 
    • Minimum three (3) years progressive experience in health care billing field, preferably mental health services. 
    • This experience should include supervisory and/or leadership duties.


    Sign on bonus $4,000

    Salary $77,272 DOE
