Revenue Cycle Director directs and oversees the overall policies, objectives, and initiatives of an organization's revenue cycle activities to optimize the patient financial interaction along the care continuum. Reviews, designs, and implements processes surrounding admissions, pricing, billing, third party payer relationships, compliance, collections, and other financial analyses to ensure that clinical revenue cycle is effective and properly utilized. Being a Revenue Cycle Director tracks numerous metrics related to the patient engagement cycle including record coding error rates and billing turnaround times to develop sound revenue cycle analysis and reporting. Manages relations with payers and providers to generate high reimbursement rates and a low level of denials. Additionally, Revenue Cycle Director requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to top management. The Revenue Cycle Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. To be a Revenue Cycle Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function.     BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES: This position is located in the Office of the Chief Financial Officer (OCFO), Not for Profit Hospital Corporation (NFPHC), United Medical Center (UMC).  The incumbent provides leadership and promotes key concepts of customer satisfaction within and outside the Hospital while assisting in guiding and improving all aspects of NFPHCs revenue cycle and business operations.  Duties include, but are not limited to:  serving as backup for the NFPHC CFO in all matters relating to the Revenue Cycle and Business Operations; assisting with determining, developing and implementing revenue goals and plans for enhancing and capturing revenue and new revenue-generating opportunities; oversight for supply chain analysis as to usage as regards to patient claims and financial operation integrity, New Service line revenue analysis and process implementations, best practice implementations and benchmarking; assisting CFO with reviewing and evaluating financial results to ensure that revenue objectives and goals of the Hospital are achieved, controls are in place, policies are adhered to, and regulatory requirements are met; analyzing revenue and other financial information to benchmark against industry standards; recommending staffing and budgetary needs for effective operation of the services administered; attending annual and periodic mandatory Compliance Program training including the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) Privacy training; participating in Hospital and District of Columbia Government Compliance program activities as well as activities that promote adherence to federal healthcare program requirements and adhering to HIPAA Privacy policies.  Performs other related duties as assigned.
     Eight (8) years of progressive experience performing the related duties and responsibilities such as managing the Revenue Cycle within a hospital setting; proficient knowledge of Health Information Services, Revenue Integrity, Patient Access, and Patient Financial Services; minimum of six (6) years of supervisory experience; certification in RHIA or RHIT; Bachelor's degree in a related field is required.Experience that provides the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for this position.
