Rigger facilitates the movement and positioning of heavy equipment, materials and cargo. Sets up rigging, slings, pulleys, winches, dollies and ropes to safely maneuver loads. Being a Rigger coordinates moving activities with others using hand or other signals. Requires a high school diploma or its equivalent. Additionally, Rigger may be required to complete an apprenticeship and/or formal training in area of specialty. Requires 2-4 years of experience in the field or in a related area. Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks. PCE is an approved and recognized ABR with Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA), working as both a prime contractor and subcontractor for government ship repair.
For more than 40 years, PCE has completed thousands of separate jobs and accomplished major system overhauls on virtually every class of ship currently operating in the U.S. Navy.
Job Summary :
Accomplish the set up and repair of rigging in the shop and on site with minimal Supervision. Accomplish the alignment and anchoring of machinery, attaching loads, controlling the movement of heavy equipment, and ensuring the rigging plan is safe prior to executing with minimal Supervision.
Performs other related tasks as assigned, some of which may become essential to the position.
