Rigger facilitates the movement and positioning of heavy equipment, materials and cargo. Sets up rigging, slings, pulleys, winches, dollies and ropes to safely maneuver loads. Being a Rigger coordinates moving activities with others using hand or other signals. Requires a high school diploma or its equivalent. Additionally, Rigger may be required to complete an apprenticeship and/or formal training in area of specialty. Requires 2-4 years of experience in the field or in a related area. Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks.   • Epsilon Systems Solutions, Inc. is currently seeking a full-time Rigger III in Honolulu, HI.

    Summary: This position includes the rigging of structures and equipment to and from shipboard locations and off-ship landing sites and/or conveyances safely without endangerment of personnel or equipment. Additionally, rigging equipment and structures between lay-down areas and industrial shop locations is required.

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Examines objects, systems, or facilities, and analyzes information to determine needed installations, services, or repairs.

    • Monitors tool and part inventories and the condition and maintenance of shops to ensure adequate working conditions.

    • Conducts or arranges for worker training in safety, repair, and maintenance techniques, operational procedures, or equipment use.

    • Performs related work as required. Compiles operational and personnel records, such as time and production records, inventory data, repair and maintenance statistics, and test results.

    • Prepares routine work and time reports and maintains standard records.

    Required Qualifications

    • High School diploma or equivalent.

    • Minimum of 2- 6 years’ experience performing rigging requirements at the journeyman level in support of Naval or commercial ship maintenance.

    • Must be familiar with Naval shipboard conditions and working environment.

    • Must know all non-verbal (hand) rigging commands and have experience working with cranes and weight testing ship's weight handling systems and equipment.

    • Must have experience rigging Naval shipboard equipment i.e. structures, pumps, valves, motors, electronic equipment, anchors, generators and all other equipment subject to be rigged off vessels for repair and/or replacement.

    • Knowledge of the operation and limitations of all common portable weight handling equipment associated with the rigging trade.

    • Must have or be able to obtain a forklift operator’s license.

    • Able to obtain and maintain access to military and government installations and private shipyards.

    Preferred Qualifications

    One or more of the following:

    • Completed a journeyman level rigging training program at a Naval Shipyard

    • 2- 6 years journeyman rigging experience at a Naval Shipyard.

    • 2- 6 years rigging experience at the journeyman level at a commercial Master Ship Repair certified shipyard.

    • Meets the requirements of ANSI /ASSE A10.42-2000 Rigging Qualifications and Responsibilities in the Construction Industry

    • 2 -6 years rigging experience as a SIMA or RMC Production Shop rigger

    ADA Notification:

    • Involves heavy lifting, frequent stooping, bending, crawling, reaching and possible working assignments in overhead structures, confined spaces or beneath machinery either indoors or outdoors in noisy conditions.
