Rigger facilitates the movement and positioning of heavy equipment, materials and cargo. Sets up rigging, slings, pulleys, winches, dollies and ropes to safely maneuver loads. Being a Rigger coordinates moving activities with others using hand or other signals. Requires a high school diploma or its equivalent. Additionally, Rigger may be required to complete an apprenticeship and/or formal training in area of specialty. Requires 2-4 years of experience in the field or in a related area. Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks.     Job Purpose:

    The Rigger will fabricate and repair material while upholding the safety values and standards that Bishop Lifting is known for. The Rigger will assist in the creation of quality slings and other lifting assemblies and ensure that they pass safety inspection.

    Key Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Fabricate and repair wire rope slings and assemblies
    • Maintain a safe working environment
    • Assist in proof testing of products when required
    • Ensure that equipment and tools used in the rigging department are properly maintained.
    • Perform other functions as required

    Job Requirements:

    • Must be able to read measuring devices such as tape measure, calipers, etc.
    • Prior Rigging/ sling assembly experience preferred
    • Must be able to lift and carry heavy material to and from certain parts of the rigging department
    • Forklift experience preferred but not required
    • General computer experience is a plus
    • Must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship
    • Must be able to pass a pre-employment physical, drug test, and background check
