Rigger facilitates the movement and positioning of heavy equipment, materials and cargo. Sets up rigging, slings, pulleys, winches, dollies and ropes to safely maneuver loads. Being a Rigger coordinates moving activities with others using hand or other signals. Requires a high school diploma or its equivalent. Additionally, Rigger may be required to complete an apprenticeship and/or formal training in area of specialty. Requires 2-4 years of experience in the field or in a related area. Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks. Rigger Responsibilities:
Inspecting and preparing loads that need to be moved.
- Setting, aligning, and leveling heavy equipment machinery.
- Selecting the appropriate rigging gear.
- Preparing rigging equipment including beams, pulleys, clamps, and bolts.
- Inspecting rigging before final use.
- Monitoring and maintaining rigging equipment.
- Maneuvering loads using heavy equipment machinery and by hand.
- Ensuring compliance with state and company safety procedures.
- Communicating with the rigging and construction team.
- Breaking down rigging equipment and conducting post-rigging inspections.
Rigger Requirements:
High school diploma or GED
- Valid driver's license
- Familiarity with OSHA safety standards
- General knowledge of rigging equipment and heavy machinery
- Excellent hearing and vision
- Ability to work at heights and in noisy environments
Physical fitness and ability to lift 80 pounds
Basic mathematical skills
- Punctual and willing to learn, and take directions
Ability to work outdoors in harsh weather conditions
Job Type: Full-time, M-F and occasional weekendsSalary: Starting $19-$25/hr DOE
