Right of Way Agent prepares organization's need for additional land or office space. Researches, negotiates and elects to purchase short- and long-term lease of land agreements and right of way for construction that meet the organization's goals. Being a Right of Way Agent handles all land related legal issues, including transfers of titles and deeds, construction, mortgage concerns, and zoning. Prepares resolutions and other legal forms related to land acquisitions. Additionally, Right of Way Agent may require a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Right of Way Agent contributes to moderately complex aspects of a project. Work is generally independent and collaborative in nature.   • ORC is seeking a full-time, exempt Right of Way Agent to work on projects based out of Austin, TX office. The selected candidate must reside in the Austin, TX area, and will have flexibility to work a hybrid schedule. Agent should expect to hit the road daily traveling locally throughout Austin and surrounding cities.

    What you will be doing:

    As a Right of Way Agent, you will provide land acquisition and relocation services, per project guidelines and regulations, for federally funded road projects throughout the right-of-way project lifecycle in support of the Project Manager (PM), or members of the project team. This includes preparing complex real estate documents, performing basic property research for ownership and boundary information, and communicating with property owners and their representatives for the acquisition of right of way. You will be responsible for performing general administrative work including but not limited to preparing legal documents, reports and correspondence, attending meetings, entering and retrieving computer data, copying and filing documents for file management, verbal and written communications with customers, customer service and related functions.

    Here are the minimum requirements:

    • Minimum of two (2) years of Right of Way acquisition experience
      • Must include experience with or within a Department of Transportation
    • Active TREC License
    • Active Texas Notary
    • Must be proficient with MS Office Suite, specifically, Excel, Word, Outlook, and Dropbox
    • Must have an iOS or Android smartphone to be able to access ORC's systems
    • Valid Driver’s License

    Bonus Points if you have IRWA credentials.

    Physical Requirements: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to clearly communicate and exchange information in person, via phone and email. Substantial repetitive movements of the wrists, hands and/or fingers due to high computer usage and typing. Expected to spend long spans of time in front of a computer screen. Able to read, understand and interpret department related documents and data. The employee is required to move about inside the office to access files, office equipment and to interact with other members of the staff. This role requires the employee to occasionally travel to meet with clients or vendors which involves time driving; sometimes for long durations. While meeting with clients and vendors, will need to be outdoors traversing different types of landscapes. May be exposed to the elements (heat, rain, snow, cold).
