Examples of Duties

• Reviews requests for work in the City right-of-way by private utilities;
• Inspects work done under permit by private utilities;
• Performs inspections of rights-of-ways by City sections, detailing condition of Street Lights;
• Inspects work done on sidewalks, driveways, curbs and inlets under right-of-way permits by bonded contractors;
• Submits right-of-way permits for closure upon successful completion by bonded contractors;
• Inspects rights-of –way for unpermitted encroachments such as debris, basketball hoops, dumpsters, overgrowth, advertising and garage sale signs, etc and works with the City Traffic Engineer to have them removed;
• Assists in administering the City's 50-50 sidewalk repair program, investigating for appropriateness of requests for participation and verifying measurements and payments;
• Insures that contractor's working in City rights-of-way have obtained the proper permits;
• Responds to citizen concerns/issues as assigned;
• Performs field inspections for right-of-way encroachment agreements.

• Material properties and placement practices for Portland Cement Concrete;
• Material properties and placement practices for Hot Mixed Asphalt;
• Risk Abatement.

• Using computers and related software applications;
• Writing and communication skills;
• Interpersonal skills;
• Public relations/presentation skills.

Acceptable Training and Experience

Training and Experience (position requirements at entry):

• Valid driver's license with a Class B CDL endorsement.
• Associate Degree or two year technical certificate with up to one year of specialized or technical training beyond high school in construction, concrete, asphalt and mechanical;
• Or any combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.
