Right of Way Manager oversees the organization's operations and activities regarding the need for additional land or office space. Summary:
Performs highly complex professional legal work providing counsel and legal support to the Company’s Right of Way, Engineering, Operations, and Encroachment Departments in both capital projects and daily operational support. This position will report to the Assistant General Counsel of Right of Way and will also work closely with all departments as needed. Employees at this level must be high performers who can manage a large volume of work and issues while assuming direct accountability for the work product.
· Experience with drafting and negotiating pipeline easements and permits preferred.
· Experience in handling and timely resolving a large volume of requests to cross or otherwise encroach on company easements.
· Assist with handling and resolution of real property damage and nuisance claims, and encroachments upon the real property rights of the Company.
· Attend depositions, hearings, trials, and other required Company legal proceedings.
· Coordinate with outside counsel as necessary.
· Legal support with litigation and condemnation including engagements, discovery requests, litigation holds, depositions, affidavits, board consents, and other duties as required by the Company.
· Education: Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
· Experience: 6 years’ experience in governmental and administrative law, civil procedure, real estate law, or related. Previous in-house experience with mid-stream real property rights is preferred.
· Licenses and Certifications: Licensed to practice law in the State of Texas is preferred.
· Excellent drafting skills with real property instruments; demonstrated experience with complicated transactions as it relates to real property.
· Team-player with the ability to work well with business teams and get along with a variety of people; enjoys interfacing with internal and external clients and can adapt with an ever changing corporate environment to maintain a high level of service to business units
· Adaptability and ability to work on a wide range of matters that arise on a day-to-day basis.
