Risk Management & Compliance Analyst I / Internal Auditor - 162366

    This position is located in the Office of Inspector General (OIG) – Internal Audit Unit, in Headquarters, Blythewood, SC.

    Responsibilities of the Internal Auditor

    • Researches and prioritizes SCDMV branch offices for risk and compliance assessments. Evaluates operations and compliance with related laws, regulations, policies, and procedures. Documents findings and information, reports to management on compliance, potential risks, and makes recommendations.
    • Conducts assurance assessments on SCDMV headquarters business units to evaluate risk and compliance. Reviews procedures, processes, practices, and operations, and compliance with related laws, regulations, policies, procedures, and standards. Documents relevant information and findings. Reports to management on risk and compliance and makes recommendations.
    • Provides assistance for agency investigations.
    • Consults with various work areas and business units to assess risks, compliance, and operations. Provides advisory services to support the implementation or modification of business initiatives or processes. Supports the development and modification of agency policies and procedures by providing input on risk, controls, and compliance.
    • Supports facilitation of external assessments, reviews, audits conducted by the agency on internal business units, functions, or external business partners. Supports internal business units undergoing an assessment, review, or audit by an external entity.
    • Supports agency wide risk assessment. Continuously evaluates established assessment and audit programs.
    • Maintains professional growth and development. Performs other duties as directed by the Internal Audit Manager and Inspector General.

    Minimum Requirements

    A high school diploma and relevant work experience. A bachelor’s degree may be substituted for the required work experience. An equivalent education and relevant experience may be accepted with prior approval.

    • General knowledge of practices, principles, & theories of accounting and auditing, management practices & principles, federal & state laws & regulations.
    • Strong research, analytical, communication, & investigative skills; able to analyze & interpret facts & data; able to work effectively in a team environment & individually; communicate effectively orally & in writing.
    • Must demonstrate sound judgement, professionalism & the ability to maintain productive, collaborative working relationships; possess strong organizational & time management skills, adaptable, able to manage multiple projects simultaneously, proficient in Microsoft Office.
    • Under limited guidance will complete all phases of various audit projects, risk assessments, and compliance reviews to include preparation, field work, and post work and follow up. Individual must be able to work independently to ensure day to day administrative needs of the Office of Internal Audit are met.
    • Occasional overnight travel and working outside the normal 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM work schedule may be required.
    • Required to operate a state vehicle.
    • Must complete a minimum of 40 hours of audit training annually.
