Enterprise Risk Management Officer

  • The Enterprise Risk Management Officer will serve as a participatory and supervisory member of the bank’s risk management team and report directly to the Chief Risk Officer. The successful candidate must possess the strategic, intellectual, and operational skillsets that are required to advise a multi-layered organization. Will work with multiple functional units while building and leveraging key relationships. The successful candidate must be comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment alongside department managers across the bank.   Essential Job Functions include but are not limited to:   Assists the Chief Risk Officer in the execution and continued enhancement of the Bank's ERM framework, including performance of risk assessments.  Maintains knowledge of ERM practices, including related regulatory guidance. Oversees the company's outsourced loan review function to maintain quality control and minimize losses. Assists in providing risk direction and support for corporate initiatives as appropriate including: enterprise projects, system integrations, business continuity planning/exercises, and process improvements. Ensures management's decisions are fully risk-informed and risk-taking remains aligned with the Bank's risk management efforts. Oversees the vendor management program and related due diligence activities. Evaluates due diligence work and quality of the program and consult with management on key concerns or exposures. Assists in the review and interpretation of new and pending laws and regulations that potentially affect the organization's credit practices. Coordinates the development or revisions of policies, procedures, and agreements to ensure compliance with the regulatory process. Ensure that deviations from policy are corrected.   To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. In accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act, Reasonable Accommodations may be made to enable qualified individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.     Skills and Abilities Required to Perform Essential Job Functions:   Strong knowledge of federal and state banking regulations pertaining to risk management and regulatory reporting Excellent communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills Strong initiative with exceptional analytical and reasoning skills Willingness and ability to accept responsibility and provide guidance to department team members and bank associates Effective organizational and planning skills, with the ability to successfully guide projects through to completion Ability to successfully build strong working relationships and interact with associates and management at all levels of the organization Ability to effectively challenge management responses when necessary and work with the Chief Risk Officer to resolve issues in the best interest of the Bank   Education, Experience and Qualifications:   BA/BS degree in Bank Risk Management, Finance or Business Administration required Minimum 10 years of audit, finance, operations, or risk management experience, preferably with financial institutions exceeding $4-10 billion in asset size Professional Risk/Audit/Accounting Certifications(s) preferred but not required   Physical Requirements of Essential Job Functions:   The associate is frequently required to sit and/or stand, communicate, reach, and manipulate objects, tools or controls that are typical or an office/bank environment. Lifting items weighting up to 10 pounds on a consistent basis.
