    Position Summary:

    This position supports the Corporate Risk Manager with General Liability Claims, Workers Compensation Claims, Certificates of Insurance and performs basic administrative duties within the Risk Management department.



    Primary Duties and Responsibilities includes but not limited to:

    • Develops, maintains and coordinates files, paperwork and information for the processing of claims (general liability and worker’s compensation) for several of Mohegan’s affiliates including the Mohegan Tribe
    • Investigates claims, consults department heads and reviews surveillance footage
    • Assists with the denial, settlement or authorization of payments on routine claims
    • Coordinates, reviews and maintains all vendor/non-vendor insurance for work being done on property for Mohegan Sun, Mohegan Tribe, as well as certain other Mohegan affiliated locations
    • Regularly exercises discretion and independent judgment with insurance requirements for vendors and contracts. In addition, uses discretion in identifying what claims should be processed, denied or recorded only.
    • Manages the process for vendor badge requests, based on Insurance compliance
    • Accountable for advising and overseeing certificates of insurance (“CI’s”) for special events, conventions and entertainment
    • Directly works with various departments, vendors and multiple entities to provide insurance verbiage
    • Responsible for Automobile Insurance cards, documenting and distributing to vehicles
    • Responsible to process payments for monthly billing, to include but not limited to Insurance Premiums (various Corporate policies); Legal Bills (CT & PA); Settlements
    • Updating and keeping accurate accounting for general liability and worker’s compensation claims related to CT, PA and Las Vegas matters.

    Secondary Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Prepares correspondence, documents, records, etc.
    • In addition to any and all other assigned duties
    • Promoting Superior Customer Service
    • Arranges for documents to be archived and/or retrieved from Records Retention
    • Practices strict confidentiality of company information and (to the extent applicable) adheres to the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA)




    Minimum Education and Qualifications:

    • High School Diploma or equivalent
    • Three years of clerical experience in any of the following areas: risk management, workers compensation, legal/paralegal or insurance
    • Experience identifying risks and taking appropriate proactive action
    • Experience administering a worker’s compensation program
    • Can work effectively in a team environment but also a self-starter able to work independently
    • Strong communication skills
    • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
    • Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills

    Competencies: Incumbent will master the following competencies while in this position:

    • Capable of preparing business letters
    • Overall knowledge of insurance protocol and claim processes
    • Experience administering a worker’s compensation program
    • Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines

    Training Requirements:

    • Must be able to navigate through Stratton Warren

    Physical Demands and Work Environment:

    • Office work environment
    • Must be able to sit in front of a computer for extended periods of time
    • Must be able to work various shifts and flexible hours
