Risk Management Director - Healthcare develops and administers risk management programs. Creates and modifies policies to comply with safety legislation, JCAHO, HIPAA, and industry practices. POSITION SUMMARY:
The Director of Safety and Risk Management (DSRM) will be responsible to manage the organization-wide risk management and patient safety programs in order to improve patient care and outcomes, reduce risk and provide guidance to clinical staff. The DSRM will develop and maintain systems within WCCHC to detect, monitor, prevent, organize, measure, investigate, report and manage patient adverse events, malpractice claims, incident reports and other indicators of potential patient harm and employee safety.
The DSRM will work closely with the Chief Medical Officer, collaborate with senior leadership, department heads, and clinical staff to educate on standards, monitor and report on programs, review policies and procedures, develop and implement systems/processes to improve health outcomes, services and compliance.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
1. Associates Degree with a minimum of five years’ experience in a health care organization or setting required. Bachelor’s Degree with a concentration in the health care field preferred.
2. Three (3) years’ experience in leadership and management required
3. Healthcare Professional License preferred
4. Five (5) years of progressive experience in the healthcare industry, preferably in Healthcare risk management, compliance and/or patient safety highly desired
5. Certification in Health Care Risk Management (CPHRM) and is required. If not certified upon hire this will need to be obtained by the end of the first year of employment
6. Certification in Root Cause Analysis is preferred
7. Certified to teach Basic Life Support required. If not certified upon hire this will need to be obtained by the end of the first year of employment
8. Completed National Incident Management System (NIMS) training preferred
9. A valid Driver’s License and daily access to an automobile required
