Risk Management Director manages and administers an organization's risk-management programs. Implements policies, procedures, and controls to monitor and minimize the risk exposure of assets. Being a Risk Management Director researches internal and external risk factors including economic, market, and regulatory risks that may affect the organization. Routinely evaluates the effectiveness of procedures and collaborates with internal stakeholders to monitor changes in the business environment. Additionally, Risk Management Director manages statistical analysis and designing of financial models to predict the risk exposure of an organization's assets. Reviews risk analysis reports to ensure risks are identified and managed effectively. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Risk Management Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be a Risk Management Director typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments.   • KPC Promise Hospital of AMARILLO: The Director of Quality is responsible for organizing, leading, implementing and supervising day to day operations of the performance improvement and risk management programs. The director contributes to the organization’s mission and vision by planning, designing, studying and assessing hospital-wide performance improvement, survey readiness programs, and risk prevention measures. He/She is responsible for coordination of internal performance improvement activities, leads and serves as a model for identifying opportunities for improvement throughout the organization, managing activities necessary to ensure appropriate utilization of the hospital and its resources while maintaining optimal achievable standards of patient care, as well as working collaboratively with the medical staff and leadership in support of process improvement and risk management goals.  

    QUALIFICATIONS:   

    1. Registered Nurse, graduate from an accredited school of nursing   
    2. Must hold a current state license and must maintain license renewal in accordance with the standards of the State Board of Nursing  
    3. Bachelors degree in healthcare, nursing, or administration, Masters preferred  
    4. Three to five years of full-time management experience, with two years experience in the area of performance improvement  
    5. Additional education in the area of Quality Management and Joint Commission Standards  
    6. Long term acute care and rehabilitation experience is preferred  
    7. Demonstration of leadership, manageability, and the application of interpersonal and principles of supervision and administration  
    8. Must be able to read, write, and speak English, as well as possess good verbal and written communications skills  
    9. Good computer skills with minimal guidance    

    PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:  

    Physical: Walking - up to 15% Standing - up to 15% Kneeling - up to 15%  

     Sitting - up to 50% Pushing - up to 5% Bending - up to 25%  

     Squatting - up to 5% Pulling - up to 5% Reaching - up to 10%   

     Lifting - up to 50lbs Wrist/Finger Movements - up to 90%   

    Mental: Stress Level: Moderate to high   

    EXPOSURE RISK: Category II - Jobs in which required tasks normally do not involve exposure to blood, body fluids or tissues but which could result in Category 1 exposure.   

    EQUIPMENT, TOOLS, MATERIALS, MACHINES USED: Computer, telephone, facsimile machine, copier, printer.  

    CERTIFICATIONS: Quality Improvement Certification preferred
