Risk Management Director manages and administers an organization's risk-management programs. Implements policies, procedures, and controls to monitor and minimize the risk exposure of assets. Being a Risk Management Director researches internal and external risk factors including economic, market, and regulatory risks that may affect the organization. Routinely evaluates the effectiveness of procedures and collaborates with internal stakeholders to monitor changes in the business environment. Additionally, Risk Management Director manages statistical analysis and designing of financial models to predict the risk exposure of an organization's assets. Reviews risk analysis reports to ensure risks are identified and managed effectively. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Risk Management Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be a Risk Management Director typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments.     Risk Management Specialist 

     

    NATURE OF WORK: 

    Risk Management Specialist position is responsible for overseeing liability claims and support prevention efforts for Verita telecommunication, will identify, assess, and make recommendations that will manage and mitigate the organization’s operational risks.. 

     

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Prepares, reviews, and transmits billable claims by all required deadlines; research, appeals, and troubleshoots claims.
    • Collaborates directly with Accounts Payable and the finance department staff to ensure accurate revenue recognition by all required reporting deadlines.
    • Reviews invoices/billed claims for accuracy and completeness and obtains any missing information from the operations business unit.
    • Acts as a liaison with external stakeholders; always fulfills Verita’s expectation of excellent customer service and replies to all communications in a timely manner.
    • Work closely with insurance carriers to ensure all documents and payments are submitted in a timely manner. Assists with questions and issues to resolve problems concerning claims. Address questions or concerns regarding insurance policies

    • Reviews financial data and other information related to business operations.
    • Gathers and compiles data related to risk from internal and external resources.
    • Identifies potential risks by analyzing data, observing processes, and talking to staff.
    • Drafts and delivers reports and presentations outlining findings, identifying and explaining potential risks, and recommending solutions.
    • Selects or develops and implements appropriate risk assessment models or methodologies. 
    • Develops and implements contingency plans to manage business interruptions, volatile market events, and other emergencies.
    • Ensures and/or facilitates adequate communication concerning key risks.
    • Drafts and/or evaluates risk disclosures and similar documentation.
    • Maintains knowledge of existing and developing laws and regulations related to the organization’s industry; assesses and explains how new requirements may affect the organization in terms of risk exposure.
    • Communicates to Accounts Payable and the finance department updates on billing issues, denials, and/or other important information related to claims processing.
    • Assists with internal/external claims audits and payment posting.
    • Develops and maintains various spreadsheets, workpapers, and tracking systems essential to claims management.
    • Prepares reports that communicate data trends. 
    • Handles confidential information and always abides by Verita’s policies and HIPAA regulations.
    • Maintains, and managing system for damages and DOT 
    • Assists with other responsibilities and special projects, as assigned by the Director of Health and Safety.
    • Additional duties assigned by management.
