Risk Management Director manages and administers an organization's risk-management programs. Implements policies, procedures, and controls to monitor and minimize the risk exposure of assets. Being a Risk Management Director researches internal and external risk factors including economic, market, and regulatory risks that may affect the organization. Routinely evaluates the effectiveness of procedures and collaborates with internal stakeholders to monitor changes in the business environment. Additionally, Risk Management Director manages statistical analysis and designing of financial models to predict the risk exposure of an organization's assets. Reviews risk analysis reports to ensure risks are identified and managed effectively. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Risk Management Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be a Risk Management Director typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments.     • This position develops, manages, and promotes a community-based project based on risk and safety while working closely with Risk Management.
    • Effectively communicate with various departments and directors to successfully plan a “Risk and Safety Day” for the citizens of Columbus, Georgia.
    • Performs other related job duties as assigned.
    • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and Outlook.
    • Knowledge of office administration and office environments.
    • Must be able to work independently.
    • Skill in operating standard office equipment.
    • Skill in oral and written communication.
    • Knowledge of local government and/or risk management is a plus.
    Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with the completion of specialized training in the occupational field, in addition to basic skills typically associated with a high school education. Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one to two years. This position is open to undergraduate college students or high school students that are dual enrolled in a college program that is 16 years of age or older. The internship will not exceed 200 hours with the internship cycle ranging from May 1, 2024, through September 1, 2024.

    The work is typically performed while sitting at a desk or table or while intermittently sitting, standing, stooping, walking, bending, or crouching. Additionally, the following physical abilities are required:

    • Balancing – maintain equilibrium to prevent falling while walking, standing, or crouching.
    • Feeling – perceiving attributes of objects by touch with skin, fingertips.
    • Handling – picking, holding, or working with whole hand.
    • Hearing 1 – perceiving sounds at normal speaking levels, receive information.
    • Hearing 2 – receive detailed information, make discrimination in sound.
    • Kneeling – bending legs at knee to come to rest at knees.
    • Lifting – raising objects from lower to higher position, moving objects side to side, using upper extremities, back.
    • Manual Dexterity – picking, pinching, typing, working with fingers rather than hand.
    • Mental Acuity – ability to make rational decisions through sound logic, deductive reasoning.
    • Reaching – extending hands or arms in any direction.
    • Repetitive Motion – substantial movements of wrists, hands, fingers.
    • Speaking – expressing ideas with spoken word, convey detailed, important instructions accurately, concisely.
    • Standing – for sustained periods of time.
    • Talking 1- expressing ideas by spoken word.
    • Talking 2 – shouting to be heard above ambient noise.
    • Visual Acuity 1 - prepare, analyze data, transcribing, computer terminal, extensive reading.
    • Visual Acuity 2 - color, depth perception, field of vision.
    • Visual Acuity 3 - determine accuracy, neatness, observe facilities/structures.
    • Walking - on foot to accomplish tasks, long distances, or site to site.

    The work is typically performed in an office, library, or computer room.
