The Operations Manager will oversee daily operations of the Iowa Rock ‘n Roll music association’s Museum and Hall of Fame operations based in Arnolds Park, including
supervision of part time museum staff and volunteers.

The Operations Manager reports to the Executive Committee of the Board of Directors.

General Responsibilities:

• Museum & Hall of Fame Management (40%)
• Manages the operations of the Iowa Rock ‘n Roll Museum. Plan, schedule, and supervise daily activities.
• Utilize hourly employees or volunteers to staff the museum during the summer season. Project manpower needs, recommend staffing levels and compensation. Provide necessary training and ensure proper utilization and supervision of all employees.
• Coordinate and oversee the day-to-day operations as it pertains to the Museum and Hall of Fame, including the collections, exhibits, educational programs, etc.
• Maintain the museum collections. Work to ensure proper storage of items. Utilizes the database for collections management and tracking.
• Grants: applying, management, tracking and reporting of applicable grants for the Museum and Hall of Fame.
• Manage the exhibit areas in the Iowa Rock n Roll Music Association museum.

Rotate and create new exhibits quarterly. Host educational events and exhibitions.

• Events Management (30%)
• Manages the local events including Rock the Roof, Rock the Patio and other local events. If not managing them directly, manages the part time staff that run the events.
• Seek and secure sponsorships for local events including Rock the Roof, Rock the Patio, and other events.
• Ensure effective communication within the community that the Iowa Rock ‘n Roll Music Association services, its inductees, customers, membership, vendors, board of directors and its employees. Follow up to ensure prompt response to complaints or problems, work with community groups, etc.

• Labor Day weekend event management (20%)
• Coordinates and manages the annual induction weekend event in Arnolds Park.
• Gathers inductee information and coordinates yearbook creation with outside

company.

• Keeps inductee database updated annually.
• Seek and secure sponsorships for Labor Day weekend.

• Marketing and Networking (10%)
• Networking with other museums across the state where necessary.
• Network with other local non-profits including Arnold’s Park Amusement park.
• Assist with our social media strategy.
• Assist with members newsletters.

Requirements:

B.S. in a business or music related field. Strong verbal and written communications skills; ability to think creatively and handle multiple projects; administrative, management, and financial experience is required. Must be able to function with limited supervision and have a strong work ethic. Computer skills necessary; social media skills. Provide list of computer technical software skills. QuickBooks skills preferred.
