Hospitality and Tasting Room Manager

Located in Hammonton, NJ on a 60 acre farm, White Horse Winery is one of New Jersey’s most awarded and recognized wineries. We have a beautiful tasting room, outdoor seating areas including firepits, seating over 150 people in total. We are open 6 or 7 days a week (seasonal hours) with live music and food trucks most every weekend and mid-week events most weeks. The Hospitality Manager’s first-most responsibilities are maintaining this quality experience for our guests, a supportive work environment for our staff, and our reputation for excellence. We have a great team and we are proud of what we do!

In a nutshell, the Hospitality Manager is responsible for all tasting room and 'hospitality' operations. In regards to these operations, the buck stops with the Hospitality Manager. These responsibilities encompass all ‘hospitality’ operations but do not include responsibilities related to wine production or grape farming.

This is not a comprehensive list but here are some of the specific responsibilities for the position.

Responsibilities:

• Ensure that customers have a great experience
• Ensure a pleasant and safe working environment for our awesome staff
• Manage and lead a team of hospitality staff, including servers, wine tenders, and kitchen staff
• Develop staffing schedule, submit payroll
• Manage Tasting Room inventory – dry goods, food & wine
• Develop Programming (entertainment, special events)
• Screen and Train staff
• Manage social media, website, and newsletter
• Maintain health standards in our kitchen and our liquor compliance
• Manage administrative paperwork related to tasting room / hospitality operations
• Manage weekly banking needs, handling cash transactions and maintaining accurate records using POS system

In addition to those responsibilities above, we have a 6 bedroom bed and breakfast which is in the final stages of approvals and which should open in 2024. Once open, the responsibilities for managing the B&B would also fall to the Hospitality Manager.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Tasting Room Experience
• Managerial Experience
• Ability to multitask, prioritize tasks, and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
• Wine enthusiast/wine knowledgeable preferred
• Proficiency in service operations, including event management and kitchen oversight
• Functional computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel)
• Social media marketing familiarity
• Organized and accurate with inventories and numbers
• A knack for problem solving
• A desire to serve – customer service skills
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for effective team leadership Professional manner, discretion, and appearance
• Energetic, enthusiastic and motivational
• Strong work ethic
• Ability to comfortably lift 35 lbs (the weight of a case of wine) several times
