Hours: PM shift 12p to 8:30p
Summary of the Job:
Coordinates the preparation, service and storage of food for cafeteria. Leads cafeteria team to complete departmental goals. Schedules Staff. Ensures cafeteria operates efficiently. Directly supervises daily activities of Food Service and Cafeteria workers. Checks all meals and cafeteria food for accuracy, acceptability, quality and adherence to the diet order/recipes. Checks signage: accurate, complete and professional. Rejects any unacceptable food items and requests replacement items. Replenishes supplies in cafeteria. Directs staff to change assignments as needed to ensure patient/customer satisfaction. Documents progress of staff and areas needing improvement. Takes appropriate steps to resolve staff issues. Liaison between the departments and room service/cafeteria. Communicates politely and effectively with staff and patients. Assumes the role of customer advocate. Helps wherever and whenever needed. Demonstrates acceptance of CARES and HAACP standards. Handles cash/credit card daily deposits-handles cash.
Minimum Qualifications:
Qualities needed include compassion, flexibility, adaptability, patient/customer focus, and strong work ethics. Computer skills or willingness and ability to learn. Working knowledge of scheduling and production. Ability to learn basic multi-line phone system. An ability to work as a team with a variety of different departments/people and willingness to comply with hospital/departmental appearance standards. Able to read and follow verbal and written instructions.
This position is considered essential during emergency conditions. Must be able to work anytime weekdays, weekends and holidays between the hours of 5:30 am and 8:30 pm. Must be able to think logically and make decisions based on experience and training. Must have excellent knowledge of all jobs. Must be able to follow diet guidelines/recipes/menus/production lists. Must be able to assess the learning abilities of persons and adjust training accordingly. Must be able to work independently without continuous supervision.
Preferred Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED preferred. Five {5} years Food Service experience or 1 year Food Service Supervision preferred.
Physical Demands:
Must possess good physical health. Some requirements include but are not limited to sitting, standing or walking for long periods of time. Lifting at least 50 pounds is required. Must be able to work with a moderate level of noise.
