    Job Description


    This position assists with families that are low risk protective services and foster care or FIS/ES cases in complying with Parent-Agency Agreements or follow through for their family. Helps families become self-sufficient by helping with budgeting - how to get the most for their money, not only with food, but other daily necessities. May have to make decisions that will have a negative impact on the family.

    Refers families to various agencies in Bay County to assist with needs that MDHHS may be unable to help with.

    Instructs and assists parents, by example, to establish better methods and routines for childcare, dressing, bed and rising times, meals and health care, sewing, housekeeping, and all around organization. Works to strengthen family life and to insure that each child will experience the benefits of a family who provides all of the essential needs for maturing into a productive and responsible person. Helps maintain the personal, small, family type relationship when people become old and are unable to take care of themselves. Deals effectively with persons in need of service and with cooperating agencies using independent judgement in the performance of this work.

    Additional Requirements and Information

    This position is being filled as a limited term assignment with the potential to become permanent, but it's never guaranteed.

    Position requires possession of a valid Michigan driver's license.

    The physical location of this position is Bay County. Based on operational needs and within established limits, remote work and alternate or hybrid work schedule requests for this position may be considered.

    Selected candidates who have been approved to work remotely or a hybrid schedule must complete that work within Michigan. Candidates should confirm work location and schedule at the time of interview.

    Vacation and Sick Leave: Eligible full-time employees receive between 15 and 35 personal days and 13 sick days per year that may be rolled over to the following year if not used. Eligible employees also receive an additional day each year for community service or school functions.

    Paid Parental Leave: Eligible employees can take 12 weeks of paid leave immediately after a birth or adoption to allow needed time together at home with a new child.

    Paid Holidays: Eligible employees receive 13 or 14 paid holidays each year including New Year’s Eve and Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Presidents’ Day, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, the Fourth of July, Labor Day, Election Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving, Thanksgiving Friday, Christmas Eve and Day.
