Location: Safe Fleet Mirrors, Elkhart, Indiana
The Purchasing Supervisor supervises daily procurement and purchasing operations and implements the strategy to provide the materials and services to meet organizational requirements for quality, volume, availability, and pricing.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS:

Managing and mentoring onsite purchasing team

Owns all communication and transactions between the company and suppliers, including onsite visits when required

Report to management the measurable status of progress and corrective actions as it pertains to supplier performance

Manage material flow to ensure inventory is maintained to the optimum level to support on time customer deliveries while keeping inventory holdings at the appropriate levels
-
Manages materials savings initiatives in line with profit plan and overall business objectives

Communicates with vendors and suppliers to obtain pricing, availability and delivery

Prepares requisitions, purchase orders, and quote requests and is responsible to ensure the correct documentation is supplied to all vendors such as prints, terms and conditions, import/export paperwork and other related documentation

Enter Purchase Orders and Requisitions
-
Procure materials and services with or without the aid of the MRP system
-
Manage and resolve problems regarding delivery, quality and pricing in a timely manner
-
Track, maintain, and update lead times, pricing and futures for items ordered
-
Expedites purchase orders to meet the best deliveries and advise departments of delivery status and communicate performances of suppliers, initiates corrective action, and follow up to ensure acceptable resolution

Identifies shortages and shipping delays in a pro-active manner and escalates as necessary to meet the schedule

Resolves discrepancies related to purchase orders and vendors invoices

Maintains reports and analyses as necessary

Proactively maintains all open purchase orders, ship date management, past due purchase order management, and purchase order acknowledgement

Reduces purchase part lead time and initial Kanban process where applicable
-
Streamline or eliminate process by which we send out components that return to us as subassemblies
-
May perform other duties as assigned
EDUCATION AND EXPEREINCE:
-
Bachelor’s degree in Purchasing, Production/Operations Management, or Engineering or equivalent business experience
-
5-7 years of purchasing experience in a manufacturing/facility environment
-
3 years of supervisor experience in functional area
-
Experience working with an ERP based system
-
CPM or APICS certification preferred

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud

WORK HOURS:

Expected to work 40-plus hours weekly
