Safety Director directs, develops, and oversees the general health and safety policies and procedures of the organization. Ensures the workplace is in compliance with OSHA and other state, local, or industry specific regulations and that periodic safety audits are conducted. Being a Safety Director provides programs that ensure a safe workplace including safety orientations, skill training, emergency preparedness, proper job instruction, hazardous material disposal procedures, and the use of protective equipment. Develops a systemic process to collect data and analyze the causes of accidents and generate required reporting. Additionally, Safety Director implements initiatives to reduce and prevent accidents, occupational illnesses, and exposure to long-term health hazards. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to top management. The Safety Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function. To be a Safety Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience.     This position is a remote role.

    Reports to the Senior Vice President of Operations and is a salaried, exempt position. Assists Job Corps Center Social Development, Recreation, Student Government, Safety Security and Center Standards and Incentives programs in maintaining overall PRH/ Odle Management mandates.  This is a data driven, key performance indicator compliance position. 

     

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    1. Provide management of these areas using operational tools, tracking systems, monitoring visits and assessments.
    2. Conducts corporate assessments and provides training based upon needs demonstrated by these assessments.
    3. Develops required centers plans and provides training supporting these plans.
    4. Conducts weekly audits and develops reports in support of the Universal Audit Plan.
    5. Conducts monthly Social Development, CSIO, Recreation and Safety/Security Calls.
    6. Supports center contract transitions to include interviewing and staff training.
    7. Works closely with the Senior Vice President of Operations in developing/implementing service delivery systems supporting center and corporate initiatives.
    8. Clearly communicate and model employability skills.
    9. Develops training and implements programs and initiatives that ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and to reduce and prevent accidents, occupational illnesses, and exposure to long-term health hazards.
    10. Provides departmental oversight by utilizing operational tools to analyze data, identify performance trends and implement corrective actions as needed.
    11. Responsible for gathering feedback and utilizing data to identify, surface, and act on opportunities to enhance effectiveness, culture, and morale of teams while balancing interests of the individual, department, center and company.
    12. Ensures that student incentive and disciplinary processes at Odle /Eckerd contracted Centers are in compliance with PRH and Odle Management mandates.
    13. Performs other duties as designed.

    Education and Experience Requirements:         

    • Bachelors’ Degree in Behavioral Science,  Public Administration or related areas.
    • Five (5) years of Job Corps Experience with a significant center management position.
    • Knowledge, familiarity, and ability to manage and train relative to the Policies and Requirements Handbook (PRH).
    • Proficient computer skills including operational knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
    • Ability to work with center, corporate, regional, and national offices
    • Ability to interact with individuals from diverse backgrounds
    • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills

    Additional Requirements: Position may require travel to Job Corps centers for transitions, COCAs, or technical assistance via air and/or car.
