Position Description
The Director Safety position, reporting to the Senior Director, Construction, provides environmental, health, and safety leadership to the Origis Energy team. Origis Energy is seeking a candidate that can provide leadership across all EPC projects relating to our safety and environmental programs.

Key Responsibilities
-Corporate:
- Maintain and foster strong company safety values
- Support corporate safety initiatives.
- Collaborate with Origis Services Safety Team
-Safety: Acts as an advocate for Origis Energy by promoting company culture, policies and procedures and promoting a positive attitude towards the goals of each project. Must represent Origis Energy professionally with clients, subcontractors, local officials, and others always.
- Oversee solar & energy storage project Safety programs for the construction of utility-scale solar and BESS facilities. Work with the Safety Director, Project Manager, and Site Reps to ensure that the needs of the Safety program are being addressed.
- Oversee multiple concurrent projects as assigned and collaborate with EPC partners to implement site safety program.
- Perform audits, inspections, trainings, and surveillance activities in accordance with the project safety program.
- Work with the project team to continuously assess the Safety of the work performed, track and assure corrective actions are completed in accordance with the safety policies and procedures.
- Ensure that each Site Rep and EPC partners investigate and document all accidents, incidents, and near misses, and report them to the company per Origis Energy policy.
- Champion safety achievement and performance improvement throughout the project.
- Assist the EPC partners in developing and maintaining a site-specific safety plan, including emergency action, response, evacuation, and security plans.
- Interfaces with other department personnel and external agencies, authorities as needed.
- Train staff on applicable OSHA requirements and programs.
- Defines and implements corrective/preventive actions and continuous improvement activities as directed.
- Become the point of contact of any major safety issues on our project sites.
- Establish and maintain training for our onsite staff.
-Environmental: Responsible for oversight of the Environmental Compliance Management program in accordance with Federal, State and Local Regulations for the construction of utility-scale solar and BESS facilities.
- Ensure EPC partners investigate and document all environmental accidents, incidents, and near misses, and report them to Origis as per Origis Energy policy.
- Ensure that facility audits of EPC partner compliance and consistency with regulations and corporate policies are performed.
- Track project NPDES Permit and SPCC Plan.
- Oversee, maintain, and train staff on applicable SWPPP and SPCC protocols.
- Support the defining and implementation of corrective/preventive actions and continuous improvement activities as directed.
- Interfaces with other department personnel and external agencies, authorities as needed.
- Review environmental safety, health and emergency plans and programs and advise management of existing compliance issues.
- Ensure projects maintain the required regulatory records.
- Review project SWPPP and SPCC updates.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in safety management, safety sciences, or other related fields.
- Minimum of 4-6 related experience or equivalent.
- Experience must include large commercial/multi-disciplined/industrial, utility, civil, highway/road, high voltage electrical. Solar or wind energy projects preferred.
- Experience in managing, organizing, directing, and leading construction Safety.
- Experience in investigating, documenting, and developing corrective actions for accidents, incidents, and near misses.
- External/Internal proven safety auditing experience and knowledge of OSHA standards.
- CSP preferred.
- Well-founded knowledge in Federal and State regulatory requirements (OSHA, EPA, etc.)
- Self-starter with the ability to perform with very little oversight while working within and fostering a team-oriented environment.
