Safety Director directs, develops, and oversees the general health and safety policies and procedures of the organization. Ensures the workplace is in compliance with OSHA and other state, local, or industry specific regulations and that periodic safety audits are conducted. Being a Safety Director provides programs that ensure a safe workplace including safety orientations, skill training, emergency preparedness, proper job instruction, hazardous material disposal procedures, and the use of protective equipment. Develops a systemic process to collect data and analyze the causes of accidents and generate required reporting. Additionally, Safety Director implements initiatives to reduce and prevent accidents, occupational illnesses, and exposure to long-term health hazards. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to top management. The Safety Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function. To be a Safety Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. As a result of both organic growth and acquisitions we have a created a new role, Director of Procurement. The Director of Procurement is responsible for building and leading RSS's Procurement organization and proactively managing the company's annual Direct and Indirect spend. This role will serve as the strategic head of the Procurement team by establishing long-term and short-term objectives and strategies aligned with the company's mission and overall strategic goals related to growth, cost savings, supply continuity, and risk management. The Director of Procurement will develop and execute a strategic vision for Procurement across the company and will elevate Procurement's status by meeting and exceeding internal stakeholder expectations to earn the respect of senior leaders across the company.

    The Director of Procurement will also be tasked with acting as a change agent, furthering the deployment of best-in-class procurement capabilities and governance structures where strategic sourcing is driven from a company-wide perspective. The Director of Procurement is expected to implement innovative improvements to Procurement procedures, processes and systems to maximize efficiency and effectiveness. Strong relationship building skills and the ability to interface at all levels of the enterprise will help this person successfully manage any resistance and work through the challenges common with rapid growth and organizational change.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Collaborates with executives to establish Procurement's strategies and objectives in both the long and short term
    • Elevates Procurement's status and advocates on Procurement's behalf with RSS executive and business stakeholders
    • Develops and maintains strong relationships with suppliers to consistently demonstrate value
    • Communicates strategies, priorities, goals, challenges, and results to RSS's executives and stakeholders
    • Leads RSS's strategic sourcing program that drives complex sourcing efforts and negotiates with the strategically crucial vendors
    • Partners with team to create advanced category strategies that plan for strategic sourcing, value engineering, and demand management opportunities
    • Implements, innovates and champions continuous improvement for Procurement procedures, processes, and systems
    • Hires, retains, and works to develop talent to build a best-in-class Procurement organization
    • Teams with Legal to enable negotiation of contracts in an efficient and effective manner. Deploy a method to collect contracts and document important criteria (such as contract expiration dates) for visibility.
    • Identify opportunities to extract additional value/innovation from the supply base, evaluate, execute, and quantify results. Consider performance management and risk management approaches.
    • Determine, present, and execute procure-to-pay strategy to enable efficient requisitioning, ordering, receipt, and payment operations. Assess current state of technology and determine how to maximize automation and other benefits of technological advancement. Partner with Finance to produce spend and savings visibility on at least an annual basis and optimize for working capital.
    • Performs other duties as required by the role to ensure effective and efficient operation of the department

    Experience, Education and Designations:

    • 10 years of experience in Procurement, Business, Operations, Supply Chain Management, or Consulting
    • Bachelor's degree is required, MBA is desired (but not required)
    • Demonstrated top performance in prior role(s) with increasing levels of responsibility
    • Demonstrated management capabilities, especially related to leading strategic initiatives, driving performance, leading change efforts, and producing superior results
    • Demonstrated experience managing large and diverse teams and resources
    • Track record of transforming procurement and supply chain strategy and operations, and/or leading the continuous improvement of strategic sourcing and category management programs
    • Demonstrated ability to recruit, manage, develop, and retain top talent; a recognized leader and natural mentor
