Safety Director directs, develops, and oversees the general health and safety policies and procedures of the organization. Ensures the workplace is in compliance with OSHA and other state, local, or industry specific regulations and that periodic safety audits are conducted. Being a Safety Director provides programs that ensure a safe workplace including safety orientations, skill training, emergency preparedness, proper job instruction, hazardous material disposal procedures, and the use of protective equipment. Develops a systemic process to collect data and analyze the causes of accidents and generate required reporting. Additionally, Safety Director implements initiatives to reduce and prevent accidents, occupational illnesses, and exposure to long-term health hazards. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to top management. The Safety Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function. To be a Safety Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience.   • Total Safety is looking for a Safety Technician to add to their safety conscious team. The Safety Technician cleans and inspects supplied air equipment, masks, scba's, and 5 min escape pack.

     Must have a current TWIC card

    • Excellent customer service skills
    • Basic knowledge of tools and equipment
    • Ability to learn how to service Safety Technical equipment
    • Professional and neat appearance and positive attitude
    • Organizational skills
    • Basic computer knowledge
    • Ability to multi-task and shift priorities
    • Ability to pass background and drug/ alcohol test

    Position responsibilities:

    • Greet customers and assist with customer inquiries
    • Clean, inspect, and service Safety Equipment
    • Fill breathing air cylinders
    • Issue safety equipment to customers
    • Build positive customer relationships
    • Restock inventory and maintain accurate counts
    • Abide by specific customer contract agreements
    • On call as needed- Some OT, nightshift, and weekends are required
    • Perform other related duties as required

    Essential skills and experience:

    • Able to work in fast-paced, self-directed environment
    • Strong customer service background
    • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
    • Decision-making, problem resolution and creative thinking skills
    • Ability to multi-task activities and shift priorities

    Nonessential skills and experience:

    • Refinery experience

    • Work environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to certain conditions that require the use of personal protective equipment such as Safety Glasses with Side Shields and gloves.  Temperature of work area may be affected by outside temperatures.  Industrial lighting provided. The noise level in the work environment is usually minimal but can be greater when using equipment.
