Safety Director directs, develops, and oversees the general health and safety policies and procedures of the organization. Ensures the workplace is in compliance with OSHA and other state, local, or industry specific regulations and that periodic safety audits are conducted. Being a Safety Director provides programs that ensure a safe workplace including safety orientations, skill training, emergency preparedness, proper job instruction, hazardous material disposal procedures, and the use of protective equipment. Develops a systemic process to collect data and analyze the causes of accidents and generate required reporting. Additionally, Safety Director implements initiatives to reduce and prevent accidents, occupational illnesses, and exposure to long-term health hazards. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to top management. The Safety Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function. To be a Safety Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience.     Summary: Safetyville USA is a Sacramento-based, community education program of Safety Center Incorporated, a nonprofit organization founded in 1934. We accomplish our mission of reducing injuries and saving lives by promoting lifelong safety and health through a variety of community and professional programs.

    Reporting to the President/CEO, the Executive Director of Safetyville USA is an essential member of the Safety Center team responsible for the growth, development, management and implementation of Safetyville programs.

    This is an extraordinary opportunity for an individual who thrives when managing a variety of projects and wants to learn non-profit management.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

    Leadership:
    o Create and implement business plans and department budget in collaboration with the Executive Team of Safety Center.
    o Recruit, onboard, manage and develop staff team to build a positive office culture that strives for excellence. Fundraising: (65-70% of the job)***
    o Meet aggressive annual fundraising goals by securing financial support from foundations, corporations, and individual donors. o Research and prepare grant proposals to sustain and expand Community programs. o Initiate, develop, and maintain relationships with partners from diverse sources (public and private sector, grants, sponsorships, donors, etc.) to increase resources and funding. Community Engagement and Collaboration:
    o Build and nurture cooperative relationships with key constituencies and stakeholders. o Represent Safetyville and Safety Center at community events and provide information and materials to create a positive image for the organization. o Collaborate internally with other departments/programs to benefit the advancement of Safety Centers mission. Program Development and Delivery:
    o Monitor trends and adapt or expand programs and services to meet the changing needs of the community. o Lead the strategic development of new programs and measure their effectiveness in achieving positive learning outcomes and meeting the requirements of our funding partners. o Evaluate the financial performance of programs and develop plans to ensure their sustainability.

    Supervisory Responsibilities: Directly supervises employees of Safetyville and the Community Programs Division. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

    Education and/or Experience:
    Bachelors degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
    Non-Profit management experience. Demonstrated fundraising experience with a commitment to the full donor cycle.

    Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, members, governmental bodies/boards and the general public.

    Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

    Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Internet software and the Microsoft Office Suite of products. Knowledge of basic office equipment should include: Internet and email, copy and fax machines, postage meter and telephone
    Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: A current CA drivers license and proof of auto insurance are required.

    Compensation: $80,000 - $90,000 annually plus annual bonus
