Safety Director directs, develops, and oversees the general health and safety policies and procedures of the organization. Ensures the workplace is in compliance with OSHA and other state, local, or industry specific regulations and that periodic safety audits are conducted. Being a Safety Director provides programs that ensure a safe workplace including safety orientations, skill training, emergency preparedness, proper job instruction, hazardous material disposal procedures, and the use of protective equipment. Develops a systemic process to collect data and analyze the causes of accidents and generate required reporting. Additionally, Safety Director implements initiatives to reduce and prevent accidents, occupational illnesses, and exposure to long-term health hazards. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to top management. The Safety Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. Position Purpose
The Safety Director for Sutter Roofing is responsible for managing the safety and risk control programs for the company at all active construction and service sites, as well as the warehouse locations for the company. The Director will interact regularly with our insurance company, carrier, and administration team to report on Safety Program metrics, results, and losses.
The Safety Director position will require some travel to represent the company during meetings with our insurance team members. These meetings will include safety loss and claim reviews, training, and interaction with other safety professionals and representatives from the insurance carrier. Meetings will be held at various locations domestically and occasionally outside the continental U.S.
The role of the Safety Director is to facilitate the daily implementation of safe work practices into the company’s operation. The Director will instill, train, and monitor safe work practices throughout the company workforce, fostering a culture of awareness, a goal of no incidents, and an attitude that the safety of each team member is paramount.
